I also read somewhere that Manchester is the fastest growing City in the world. As well as City being the fastest growing football brand over the last 10 seasons, Manchester would also benefit from this.

Imagine Lionel Messi in Manchester with City. This City and Club would take off! Not even the TORIES could stop us!!
Manchester is the fastest growing City in the world? LOL That has to be a statement by Burnham!

Reported his wages will be £623mil over 5 years. This is ridiculous, that's an entire squad worth of transfers. Plus whatever fee Barcelona will demand. If we don't win the League or Champions league we have crippled ourselves for a significant amount of time.
You believe that shit, dearly me

I have seen various inflated figures detailed in many outlets for what we will supposedly pay him, but how many of them actually know? Probably none.

Our team is within a group and operated by some of the smartest business brains, they are astute enough to see the benefit to the business and playing side of Messi, and I for one know they are doing this to help grow the team.

Messi in our squad will be another way that we can continue not to pay overs for the right players in future, he will be a massive draw card for all players deemed to be right, and then pursued by our team. This has been much the same effect that Pep has had with the squad building over the past few seasons.

Other teams have been scrambling to get onto our coat tails in the previous two season, last year the dippers caught up, but I believe much of that was down to the opposite luck our teams had with injuries to key players, plus the influence of VAR.

I think you’ll see you’re wrong on this within the next two weeks mate.
How do you feel about this? Does it sit well with you?
It makes me uncomfortable that to get Messi we would have to do something never done before (outside of MLS), and sell part of the club to a player. A 33 year old player at that
I certainly hope, if you are right, that the City bean counters know their stuff.
It would also take some of the shine off having Messi at the club. He comes, but for a slice of the club.
We are gonna get ripped to pieces, again, by fans and media if this is how we agree the deal
Maybe Messi has already asked for something along these lines of Barca and was told no, in that case he would appear to be the king of mercenaries.

Posts like this make me despair, because you’ve not actually read it properly.

1st, he’s with City for three of those years, so reduce that figure by 40%.

2nd, he’s not getting it all as a basic, but receiving some shares and getting a basic akin to KDB’s.

3rd, the increased revenue he will bring in will make it a zero sum game.

He certainly has a far worse record than Zlatan of moving from club to club on a whim.
You can be flippant, but you and I don't know what has happened behind the scenes at Barca. You dont know Messi any better than I do, not many have access to him.
His dad flying in to Barca is strange. Why?
Exchanging part of the club for a players signature Is a worry for me.

Sits absolutely fine with me. Giving Messi 2% to 4% of the CFG whilst he’s under contract has no financial bearing on the club whatsoever (other than helping ensure Messi wants it to succeed). Companies do it all the time. It seems a great way to get him and not destroy our wage structure. The only people it effects are Mansour, the Chinese media company and Silver Lake.

Why

Why is it not for you?

I have just seen your previous post.
In a nutshell, I am worried about the dynamic of the team if Messi comes in on a % of the group.
These kind of deals are what, possibly, can destroy a teams morale.
If things go great and the money rolls in and the goals fly in, then great plan.
But if Messi loses his spark or fails to adapt, or gets a fucked up knee within 3 games of the season starting, where does that leave us?
With players literally playing to pay Messi his dividend?
I am worrying about this deal for a lot of valid reasons.
Club and fans being super optimistic in order to make this plan attractive is not good business sense.
