Ake and Akanji, were in the box for the free kick, we should definitely doubled up on salah though, probably with Bernardo as well. Still piss poor defending though, trying to nick the ball as last man, only needed to hold him up a second as we had 3 players running back 10 yards away max.
Yea Bernardo could have done the job you’re right, I just thought with us seeing Salah up there it should have been one out of the three of Dias, Akanji & Ake to sit there with Cancelo and babysit but it’s all hindsight I guess.

I don’t think you have much perspective. And name-calling is not appreciated.
I think it’s up to the refs to grow a set when they get referred to VAR screen… if he saw it the first time and didn’t blow then he should have the conviction in his initial assessment… the current system tells them they have something wrong - I’d much prefer the system in rugby where the ref refers smething he wants checking unless it is… clear and obvious

I don’t think todays ref was biased he was equally poor for both sides and lost control in the end

It didn’t go to a Liverpool player, Bernardo gets it and plays it to KDB.

I kind of get the argument around he was letting similar ones go all game. That’s the only one that VAR was able to look at though and I thought it was a pretty obvious foul. In terms of phase of play, I don’t think it was far enough back in the phase to not consider it.

Had they scored a goal like that and it had been given, I’d have been very annoyed.
Pep and Klopp said that Taylor told them before KO that he was not going to blowing for everything. Fantastic I say and I actually thought he reffed it pretty well overall. The glaring miss in his big plan though was not informing the VAR ref of this as well.

If Taylor had any conviction in his actions, he would have gone over to the screen and told VAR “Yeah, that’s exactly what I saw in real time and I waved it away as it’s within the tolerances of letting things go, as I explicitly told the managers before KO. You’ve not shown me anything I hadn’t already seen and therefore I am going to allow the goal”. Nobody could have argued with this scenario given how he reffed the rest of the game, instead he caved and allowed someone else to re-ref it for him by giving a free kick for an action that in his own eyes didn’t warrant a free-kick at any other time in the game.

Shame we didnt have Kyle for this one. He's usually back there for free kicks. Mind you Kev doesnt normally take such a bad free kick. He certainly worked hard but for some reason he just wasn't on his game, neither was Phil and thats why Haaland struggled. Maybe Kev shouldn't have been rested Wednesday.
I was thinking before if Kyle was fit we don't concede the goal. I thought Phil played well tbh, thought him and Bernardo were our best players.
