Liverpool fans want a weaker team tonight so they can go stronger on Sunday. Consensus seems to be... Alisson; Gomez, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Henderson, Fabinho, Carvalho; Salah, Jota, Nunez.

Then for Sunday against City they seem to want... Alisson; Gomez, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago; Salah, Jota, Nunez.

Robertson was average before his injury and hasn't played 4-5 weeks. He isn't ready to start a game of such intensity, especially vs Foden. Good luck with that.

My guess is we'll play with Akanji and Cancelo at FB and with Dias and Ake at CB. Grealish is likely to start. But Bernie at RW and Foden at LW with Gundo next to Rodri is an option too. I think Bernie is more press-resistant than Gundo and more mobile as well, so he's likely to start with Rodri at CM.

Football is unpredictable, as we saw last night. Liverpool are better than Newcastle and Villa and will play for their pride, they can get a result (if we don't create enough or are wasteful). But we are favourites for a reason. 3:2 City.

My "defensive" worry: Dias and Ake are not our best options to play from the back. We saw it vs Southampton, and Pep mentioned in the post-match interview that we were a bit slow in the build-up play and had problems at times to play through Southampton's press. Liverpool will press Dias and especially Ake. Normally, Laporte is a better option vs high-pressing teams, but he is not in form yet. Pep might consider the option of Akanji and Laporte at CB (plus Cancelo and Ake at FB). But, imo, it's less likely than the combo of Dias and Ake.
Rodri and Gundogan in midfield against the Dippers won't work, both are too slow. Rodders needs Bernardo's energy and work ethic too assist him.

Fabinho, Thiago and Henderson aren't pacy either.

Bernardo isn't fast but his ball controll in tight spaces is fantastic which makes him a better option than Gundo vs intense/high pressing teams.

No Mane this year is a big bonus as is Diaz being out too. Anfield is Anfield though and it's always tough for us there. If Arnold is out I guess Millner will be playing with a directive to cripple Foden and Haaland as soon as possible.

9 out of the 11 pick themselves provided fit. It's just a case of who plays in a front 3 with Erling and Phil and who plays in a back 4 with Dias, Akanji and Cancelo. Ake been our best centre back this season so would play him next to dias. Can't see mahrez getting anywhere near the XI so it's either Grealish on the left or Bernardo on the right with Gundo in midfield. Think he'll go gundo but would prefer grealish.

I expect Milner to do someone early and take a yellow.
I would tell Rodri to smash him first! Then tell Foden to take him for a run every time he gets possession. Any pace he had has gone. Their usual strengths in Robertson and TAA are missing which makes them weaker up front and at the back.
No better time to play these feral cunts - we have no excuses for any limp dick performances.

Going for a corruptible draw.

City on fire, big Erling scoring for fun. What can go wrong?

Expect Var and the officials to keep this game to a 1-1 draw.

When it looks too good to be true, it normally is. Saying that, we owe these cunts a proper battering.
