Virtually every casual reader (does the Echo have casual readers, though?), not either associated with City or Liverpool, not interested in football even, would be led to make that assumption, given the way it's contextualised. See, this disingenous way of spinning things is what I absolutely can't stand.
And it's my objection to the way it's been reported on the BBC.
