Liverpool (h) - CL QF post match thread

Fernandinho has been the underpinning leader of this campaign, and i really though we'd get further with this top hungry aggresive organised player leading the team with experience, deffo worth a shot.

Fowler and McPointalot robbed wages from us. Barton was just an utter moron - should have had a far better career than he did. Have we ever had a decent scouser play for us? Steve Redmond is the only one that comes to mind.
Tony Coleman, Ian Bishop, Joe Fagan, Peter Reid & Joe Royle

Redmon is manc i went to yew treehigh school with him

Reffing ineptitude or worse. My mate is a Sunday league ref. Recently, a certain high profile ref from these parts (can't mention his name for obvious reasons) gave the Manchester Sunday league refs a motivational talk. He repeated the mantra 'Manage the situation'. Said a Prem game he was reffing got out of hand. In the melee, he said "I booked the culprit from team X, but didn't know who the guilty party from the other team was. I made an educated guess and booked the hot head. I still don't know whether I booked the right player, but it calmed the situation down." With refs like that (and I don't trust this ref as far as I could throw him) we have no chance. They're supposed to call it as they see it, not guess.

When the draw was made I thought we would get through. First leg killed the tie with a combination of shambolic defending and shocking officiating.

The players look knackered and for the last 20 mins were running on empty.

I didn't come to give my 2 pence worth, be a Liverpool hater if you like, I get it, after the coach attack I don't blame you, it was totally out of order, I also didn't like firmino's celebration after his goal last night but it all comes down to us being more clinical than you
Laughable... two legitimate goals ruled out, Salah’s goal offside in the first leg and our crucial away goal disallowed for no good reason; the Sane goal in the second leg was pivotal and had it stood (it should have) then you might have struggled and we would certainly be energised by it... small margins but they are critical

You can consider yourselves lucky not to have been affected by the decisions but we certainly were

You can take nothing away from our season in the league either... close to a third Premier League title, something you don’t seem to be able to manage.

Having watched tonight’s games in the UCL you think you have a decent shout at winning it but if i’m honest and despite being married to a Liverpool fan I pray you don’t win it... your fans are self-important enough... One day it just might be your year

Nail on head mate. Personally speaking I refuse to be mugged off this way any longer and can't see myself renewing Chumps League scheme for next season. Well past a joke by now. Said to my son pre-game "whatever the result please god don't let us get mugged off by officials again". We have all been royally cheated out of what would have been a very competitive tie - if only the officials did their job properly!
VAR can't come soon enough for me.

And it will be one very sad day for decent football fans.

Sickening because Madrid and Bayern now look very beatable and no Barca.

There should be an aural entrance test on this forum.. if you can last a minute without mentioning candles or saying “we don’t let it slip from here” then you are in

Just the Double to concentrate on now .. what a terrible situation .. bring back Div 3 ! I can’t take success anymore

Really disappointing to be only 13 points clear, be on the verge of breaking every PL record going, have 1 trophy in the bag after our biggest ever winning margin in a final against a major rival... all whilst playing the best football I’ve ever seen

Fucking season to forget

I thought he was brilliant 1st half. I just remembered bernardo was pretty good too. Sane got a heavy knock 2nd half. I sit right on front row. I get an absolutely brilliant view of when Sane picks up the ball and runs. He was our way into Liverpool tonight. He hugged the touchline and we constantly found him with diagonals, or Silva fed him. He was constantly hitting the byline and Liverpool had no way to stop him. What they did was defend the crosses and pull backs when they came in. They couldn't stop him putting the balls in. On another night we'd have won that game. A lot lot closer than the scoreline looked
I work in a specialised business where people travel into Manchester from as far away as the Midlands, North Wales and Cumbria. Although Manure fans I work with are deluded enough to believe the first half of the derby was even and they bossed the second......, the Liverpool fans I work with all acknowledge the inept reffing re the offside goals and our onside goals chalked off (amongst other things). However, that's not my point. From the point we lost Mendy we had to change the way we play. Fabian has filled in superbly as a stand-in left back. In the few games Mendy played, he was cutting the ball back with a conveyor belt of low and accurate crosses. Will effectively be a new signing forming a formidable left side interchanging partnership with Leroy.

May I borrow that for work tomorrow as I have been off since last Friday?

More wins than any team, more goals, fewest conceded, more points and more trophies, huge margin at the top. Yeah, what a crap season !!
