This Haaland on VVD to stop the pass to him from the goalie stopped lot of passing through the lines! I said 2/3 years ago you should man mark VVD because everything mainly goes through him
Yeah, well done to let Konate - very average footballer - do the build up play or should I say hoofball.

Other teams should do the same.

Brilliant performance. Only fly in the ointment the missed pen. With all the talent in the squad there must be someone besides Erling who can take them. For example I remember Nunes looking pretty clinical in shoot outs.
Wonderful goal scorer but looks awkward taking pens, maybe it's the bambi legs in his run up ha

Trying to find a highlights package that includes the full build up to the 1st goal when we had the ball deep in our left defensive corner and played it out superbly. Obviously not shown on MOTD or the Sky highlights.

Hopefully it'll be covered on that show Howard Webb does with Michael Owen, and he backs the decision.
webb going against the scousers? theres more chance of daniel sturrige and micah richards making a cogent and intelligent argument.

It was a performance that could've graced any of Pep's title winning teams/seasons. Biggest compliment you can pay that collection of players.

We forget how young the likes of NOR, Nico G, Josko, Doku are. The ceiling of this team could be as special as anything that's come before it. Remember Rodri hasn't played, Marmoush and Ait Nouri haven't got going, Cherki only got a few games under his belt etc.

The prospects are very exciting for this group. There’s a long way to go (and I mean beyond this season) but the technical and physical aspects (in some cases) of the players are there for all to see and it is all about keeping improving and in particular maintaining a more consistent high level of performance. What is still fairly apparent is that despite the league being filled with more players who are strong and quick, if you give Pep players with enough technical ability, he can find solutions.

What did amuse me when driving home yesterday was all the Dip’s fans coming on with their excuses (some around the reffing, which having now seen TV footage are pushing it e.g. Robertson was offside and interfering with play (I know that’s not the official term anymore). One of them came on to talk about Liverpool being in transition and I could care less if they are or are not but it is not the excuse to be proffering when they have been comprehensively been beaten by a side that is unquestionably in transition.

Obviously it's always a good thing beating the Dippers.
But what impressed me the most was the speed we played at. No longer slowing the game down with sidewards passes. The future looks very good.
In Pep we trust. CTID

I noticed it on MOTD. I also commented on that exact same look when they equalised at ours just before Sane scored the winner. I've not seen it in another player - it's an arrogance, a smugness, a "they thought they were something didn't they?" kind of look. Wonderful to see it wiped off.
Yeah, I noticed too, think he made some sort of self satisfied comment too.

Thank you City and Pep................Fuck you scouse cunts.

What a day........everything was perfect apart from being chucked out again whilst watching the highlights.

Fuckin stewards. I'm convinced they hate us.

Two physically imposing and mobile full-backs are making all the difference to this team.

So smart to have Doku playing tucked in because teams are struggling to get around us and also have to drop back because of our overloads in the middle.

Hard work always beats talent and if you have both, it is a lethal combination.

Gonzales and Bernie are so good together and the return of Rodri should see a double pivot which would mean Bernie, Cherki and Savinho, vying for the open slot on the right side.

So much media reporting on the disallowed goal for Liverpool, but this City side is really coming together now, when Rodri is back to full fitness and hopefully fewer injuries, we are in with a big shout for the Premier League and Champions League again.

The thing that is getting overlooked is that HE HAS DONE IT WITHOUT SEVERAL OF OUR BEST PLAYERS!!!!!

I would never have dreamed even a couple of months ago that a City team without Stones, Rodri, Reinders and Alt Nouri would outplay Liverpool like that.

Starting to look like we may have some depth to our squad. Does it match Arsenal (?) is a question to be answered over the coming months.

The performances of some of our younger (less experienced in their current role) players yesterday was out of this world. They have to repeat that multiple times before we get giddy about them but, for now, we should enjoy the warm glow of yesterday’s performance.

I watched our full backs yesterday in wonderment. I knew Doku was capable of the performance he gave but the two full backs stepped up and they have been very good in recent games. But, you would have to go a long way to see both full backs in a team putting in such complete performances.

Absolutely this .... so glad I've been proved wrong about Nunes, he's been sensational lately and young Nico could well be England's first choice LB next summer. The positions he finds himself in, in the opposition box are outrageous.

It's a helluva physical requirement from both, but they are big units and it helps massively that they are technically good being midfielders by trade.

That felt like a statement of intent. We’re not there yet but we are much much better than last season. Intriguing that only Cherki and Donarumma were the only new players compared to the same fixture last season. Thought yesterday would be a good indicator of where we are and we certainly are heading in the right direction.

We still have a few spells of fragility, Salah and Gakpo should have scored and it was far too easy for Van Dijk for the disallowed goal, but we’re much sharper going forward and far less vulnerable on transitions.

Nico x2, Doku, Bernardo and Dias excellent yesterday. Gvardiol was good but still has a bad habit of giving the ball away needlessly. Nunes looks the part at right back but his concentration needs to improve. He switched off for Gakpo’s chance and I think he was the one playing Salah onside for his chance. Pity Haaland didn’t hit the century. Cherki was a bit too casual at times.

We seem to be cursed from the penalty spot against Liverpool (Mahrez, KDB,Gundogan and now Haaland have all missed). While we have beaten them in 2 penalty shootouts the last successful penalty I can remember was Anelka’s!
