Yesterday showed we can’t afford to lose Bernardo at any price. Our only creative force as Kev was struggling.

Cancelo created more openings than Mahrez and Grealish combined. Mahrez was about creating space for himself, Grealish didn't shine either. Both will improve, though.

Think we'll go with Foden right and Grealish left vs W Ham.

Going to take time for a difference in the system. Yesterday at times it looked like we was still playing with the false nine system. Need to get the ball forward quicker and get the best out of Haaland

This notion that we didn't create enough for Haaland. He had two great and one decent chances. It's probably unrealistic to expect from the team to create 5 chances for him against Liverpool. In some games, Haaland will score 3 goals from fewer chances than yesterday. He had an off day, Kevin as well. Imagine when both are on song...

Positives from yesterday was that Foden looks absolutely ready for the season, that directness he brings with those technical ability is really a joy for us fans, Alvarez is Tevez like , pretty sure he will become a fan favourite soon. Walker is a beast of a player, Watching him defend both Robertson and Dias alone was funny.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think we were that bad. The 3-1 scoreline flattered Liverpool I thought.

We had a few very good chances (Haaland x2, Mahrez start of second half), dominated the ball for the majority, fought well against them when they had it and overall looked composed.

For a third pre-season game and it being against that lot, I think it was a good exercise. We’ll obviously get better than we were yesterday and given we weren’t that bad, it’s a promising sign and performance IMO.

All this nonesense spouted after a clear offside decision against the Liverpool player.
Yeah, and they were going on like the offside was tight when he was a couple of feet offside.

I dream of the day that Amazon or someone takes over the games and gives us multiple commentary options...

That said, in our case we'd probably get two options;

Man utd pundits or
Liverpool pundits

I’m going to sound like a broken record with Ake and it’s nothing particularly against him but when he’s in the side, we suffer with build up. He’s a good defender but he’s too safe in possession.

My ST is the corner flag next to the away fans so have the perfect angle of any passes Laporte makes to the wing back/winger and he takes risks with bending it around their attacker. Yesterday I had a similar view with Ake and rather than picking Cancelo out and releasing him into space, he’d turn back and give it Dias.

It’s a tiny detail but one that’s really important to how we play. Like I said, nothing against Ake as he’s a good defender etc. but he needs to be better with the ball.

Stones and Laporte are the ones who, when they play, make us a lot more fluid in the build up because they’re brave with it.

Sense.

Well that played out as badly as I feared. From ITV's totally impartial commentary to most our squad looking undercooked. From an obligatory Salah penalty to their fullbacks scoring and assisting. From Nunez scoring and Haaland missing sitters, playing beautifully into the media narative.
Still it could be so much worse 'imagine being them'. One shudders.

Think it’s 5 wins, 5 draws, and 7 defeats against Liverpool under Guardiola. Obviously they’re the team we struggle against most, but it’s hardly all one-way.

We've had the upper hand since the "kryptonite" Liverpool in 2018. We've struggled more against United.

W3 D4 L1 in the league since 18/19. And at least two of those draws could easily and deservedly been wins (Mahrez).

0-0
2-1
1-3
4-0
1-1
4-1
2-2
2-2

Then it is 1 Community Shield each (not really relevant) and the Cup Sf which was dominated by our CL priority.

Was stones carrying a niggle yesterday or unfit ? or was pg making a point to the players who didnt go on tour, because of supposedly not having covid vaccination.
If Ake is 4th choice stones should of started yesterday ,him & dias have got a good understanding .

might take another month of games for the players to get up to speed and implement any new progressions in play but no doubt whatsoever we'll be tearing it up soon. Alvarez is already a fan favourite, cant wait to see him play in the flesh.

Yep, Ake was poor in possession yesterday, like a hot potato and his passes were never direct into the feet.

Guess it's the latter.

Also, given that we need Cancelo in attack as well, Ake's experience at LB was needed because of Salah. Dias would struggle against Salah more than Ake.

When is the tramps parade?

We was like an F1 car with a puncture yesterday, would have been great to win just to rub their faces in it but wasn't to be.
Team full of rust, the bridesmaids looked much further on in their fitness, there was enough there to get excited for the season.

Can't wait for next week.

I thought our fans were great today, they seemed extremely quiet. Is that how it came across on tv? Or was I just lost in our end and could only hear us. Loudest I’ve heard us in a long time

Our fans were brilliant only heard the dippers once they scored. Never heard ynwa once.
Well done City lads and lasses

Unfortunately we can't afford a poor month. League a lot different these days.

City are always good even when we are poor. By that I mean we consistently create the better chances and that categorically happened yesterday - 5 big chances against Liverpool is unprecedented.

Sure, they exposed us but fuck me "the best back 4 in the world", er, wasn't.
