Liverpool Post Match Thread

Utterly humiliating. Losing 4-1 flattered us against a team where at a push you might want one, maybe two of their players over ours. In 6 weeks Klopp appears to have gained a greater understanding of his players' strengths and weaknesses than our manager has in 2.5 years.
All Liverpool did was run around like lunatics for the first hour. They were dead on their feet towards the end. I don't think that tactically Klopp is that smart. The usual City would have overwhelmed them because there's no way they could play like that for 90 minutes.

It was a very strange decision by Pellegrini. we all knew what Liverpool would do and it looked from recent team selections that Pellegrini knew that you can't play Toure in a light midfield but he did just that against the very worst opponent. 3 points thrown away by the manager and this league will be won or lost by the odd point.

Now we see what the manager is made of, how do we react to that pile of poo yesterday. The manager and the players need a rocket up their arses after that and if they play with a similar attitude against Juve and Southampton it will be a grim week.

Maybe, maybe not. As good as it may feel short term, I don't think it's time to throw the baby out with the bath water.
We've seen ourselves rally from tough, nigh impossible odds near to the reckoning end of the season and we've seen ourselves fold. Right now, due to injuries we have a lot of variables between knowing for sure that such major change is required.
We have seen Pellers and core members of the playing staff keep on going and overtaking foes who seemed home and dry.
We are nowhere near either scenario yet, so stability would appear a very sensible choice no matter how peed off we are at this point.
My money is on us being still in a good position to win from the end of February should we keep the current setup and focus.
Sacking now is a major gamble and not one that most objective people would risk. Given our trajectory, we do not need to apply desperate tactics any more.

Just my opinion of course.

Your absolutely correct. People don't seem to understand that we could make a change and things could go very badly indeed. Chelsea couldn't happen to us? Yeah right. I'm very angry about the defeat. I haven't seen it yet. I do know however that we have 7 games in 22 days starting last night. We need everyone match fit and the way to get match fit is to play. It sounds like the players didn't match them for effort but how is that Pellegrini's fault? We are not Barca or Madrid yet. They have 5 or 6 players that cost more than 50 milliin. We have one.

The positives from today was evidence that Delph is going to be a good fit alongside the Ferns in games like today and Aguero is back. The negatives are many, but the biggest one for me is the manager continuing to play Yaya in that position against high pressing teams. I thought he had learnt his lesson, although it wasn't Yaya's fault that the back four looked like rabbits in the headlights with the ball at their feet, but Liverpool attacked unmarked at wil,l leaving poor old Fernando not knowing if he wanted a sh** or a haircut.

Imagine a team with toure coming on with half hour to go regularly. Perfect. But it won't happen because yaya's ego won't alow it and pellers hasn't the balls. Delph was excellent yesterday but he's no toure replacement. But who is?
No one. But we've added De Bruyne and Sterling. Delph for me if he can overcome injuries is going to be a great player for City. Some will scoff, but football is getting quicker and quicker by the season. You need players who have great industry and with good first touch and passing ability. Fernando, Delph, Fernandinho are perfect support for Silva and De Bruyne and Nasri. We have a big problem at the moment in that Silva and Nasri are out.

You can spin it how you like but Klopp picked the right team for the match. For example, he didn't pick Benteke because he wanted a team that would be mobile enough to carry out his tactics. Tactics which they absolutely leathered us using incidentally. Meanwhile we have a manager still playing Yaya in a role that every other person in the world seemed to recognise he could no longer play around 18 months ago. So as I say, Klopp seems to know more about his players' relative strengths and weaknesses after 6 weeks than ours knows after 2.5 years. They may have been dead on their feet towards the end but they were still carving out better chances at that point than we had all match. I think you underestimate Klopp. He's brought teams to the Etihad twice now and they have played us off the park for pretty much the whole 180 minutes, to say that it is just about running around like loons is utter fucking nonsense.

totally agree it is the best squad, the problem is the manager and his team set up. playing yaya in a two i thought he`d learnt his lesson, obviously not
Can't disagree on that last point. I just hope it's one of those 'OF COURSE IT'S STILL GOING TO BURN YOUR FINGERS YOU STUPID DOLT!' moments that acts as a reminder for the (really) big games.

We had bad luck....Mangala putting through his own net and then we played Demichelis who looked like a 35 year old.He can not be starting games against good opponents and neither can Toure. I am not sure that attitude was the problem. We were always going to struggle with that starting line up. You can't play Toure and Demichelis in the spine of the team against a team who play with such high energy

No one has the passing range of Toure
Are you having a laugh? Yaya, probably makes the most passes in the team but I'd guess that 90% of them are backwards and another 9% sideways... Personally I think he's just a bit thick... He is apparently the creative midfielder, so why when he receives the ball in the centre of the pitch does he gives it back to the likes of mangala or demechelis to find the creative pass?!
