Liverpool - post match thread.

One thing is for sure; this current squad can't play the way Pep wants.

We need two quick & aggressive full backs. We need a top centre backs who's powerful and dominant aerially. We need more legs in centre midfield, there's only so much energy you could expect from tonight's trio of Yaya (33), Fernandinho (31) and Silva (30).

Pep also needs to adapt to the league, there are times where he WILL have to go a bit more direct. Every team who has won the Premier League went direct at times! Ferguson's teams were always direct, Wenger's teams where before he stopped it and never won anything since, Mourinho's teams always are, we were under Mancini, Leicester were last season with Ranieri. The Premier League is a very physical and very direct league, whether Pep likes it or not.

Liverpool blocked off the channels into our attacking midfielders and we seemed totally clueless on how else to attack. Where was the switches out to our wingers so they can go 1v1 against the full back? Where was Aguero making runs in behind into the space Clyne and Milner were leaving?
Agreed we certainly have the personell to do the job Pep is asking. It's been a steep learning curve but given time he will nail it. You need a lot of luck football along with the know how. Today was a lesson Klopp gave Pep from the ones he had from last season. All is not lost the signs are there Pep can't simply sprinkle his magic dust and all will be well. This new phase will take time and personell. But I agree Pep will need to adapt be more aggressive in your face if he hopes to achieve.

Sad to say if i picked up the Daily Fail tomorrow to read he'd done a Steve Coppell it would not break my heart. I am too old to put up with a 5 year plan, instant reward is what i desire.
Fuck me you are a stalwart, you mean like Pellegrini who inherited a better squad. We have lost a game by the narrowest of margins this was always going to be transitional have a bit of faith.

Steve coppell wtf you are struggling with that one pal, sounds to me like the short term thinking that has got us where we are, yes we should be better, but patience is required, this time last year klopp was celebrating an equaliser against West Brom, now he is a genius with this high press nonsense catch yourself on things will be better given time :-)

All these posters with the "it will all come good in the end" need to ask themselves this. Why? When was the last time Pep turned round an underperforming team? He has always started with the finished article. It doesn't mean he won't but it is no certainty. What pisses me off is he doesn't know the difference between evolution and Revolution. It is no excuse to say some of the players aren't up to it - if that's the case a good manager would play to the strengths of the team and evolve the style not go straight to it. No surprise that all our defenders had the most passes - says it all. My missus said at one throw in - why is my sons team are always taught to throw up the line and City always throw backwards down the line. We are too obsessed with building from the back when our players aren't up to it. Oh well - always got the FA Cup - well, until Friday when Pep pisses about with a back 2 or some other genius decision that shows how much better than us mere mortals he is

Well for a start Barcelona were not the finished article at all. They had stagnated under Rijkaard and Pep was promoted from the Barca B team after impressive results. Barcelona at the time of him coming in were under performing and had negative influences within the dressing room which Pep removed. Do your homework and he actually started off at Barca with not very good results, and some of the Barcelona fans wanted him gone. What he did do was stick to his ways and asked the team, those that he wanted, to trust in his methods.....eventually proving right.

Klopp has had more time than Pep both in the league and at his club, in order to get his ideas across. Klopp's results at that time when he first arrived were up and down.

It was never going to be an easy ride this season, far from it. As I have mentioned before, those first 10 games were a freak. A series of results that made some think he had walked in and would run away with it this year.

Let him get his team, because our team at the moment is far from it.

I think some of the critisism I've read is a bit harsh.

We played Liverpool at anfield where we never win. They are also the leagues top scorers yet they played with no striker and put 10 men behind the ball.

There's a couple of donkeys at the back in Kolorov and otamendi and those two along with a few aging players like zaba, sagna and toure all probably need to be replaced but I'm sure pep knows it and the defence will get sorted for next season.

Aguero looks like he needs a partner or at least some real support from an attacking midfielder. He's far from past it. Gabriel Jesus?

It's disappointing losing and being 10 points off Chelsea but I honestly still believe that long term under pep were gonna be just fine.

I also think on reflection that Pellegrini actually did ok considering the defenders we've employed over the last 3-4 seasons.

Pellers won the league with the core of Bobbys team who were rejuvenated for 9 months before he and they lost interest again. Last seasons league form was mainly awful,we threw the FAC & our 2 performances in the CL Semi were anti climatic.

The club has been put on hold for four years waiting for Pep and we've underachieved substantially as a result. It remains to be seen whether that policy will be proven right or whether they should've backed Bobby with Hazzard,Sanches,de Rossi,Van piss pot & Javi Martineze after 93-20.

We need a rebuild & a coach that adapts to the unique league he's coaching in because if he doesn't things won't change that much. The rest of the league won't change to suit us/him.

I didn't think we were bad today, but if you don't shoot you don't score & having been a goal down from so early on it was incredible that we didn't make changes after 65 minutes to get more chances in their final third & box.

Pep surprises me,I thought he could've done much more, much earlier. Another wasted opportunity.

This is the Liverpool post match thread. What did Bravo contribute to us losing the game today? Did I mistakenly not see him push the ball into his own net for the Liverpool goal? Or did he inadvertently kick/throw the ball to an opposition attacker - who then capitalised immediately by scoring against us?

No? I though not.
Fair comment re the thread, perhaps I posted too quickly following the game he does however frustrate me massively. Anyway have a great new year and bring on the clarets!

Only raheem and silva can hold their heads high after that.

Fernandinho and kun were absolutely shite, inexcusable considering they just had a break.

Kolarov is just done. It's embarrassing. Angelino must be so,so pissed off.

As for Pep, he's an idiot. Is he trying to piss Navas and kelechi off with his dithering over the subs?
