Liverpool - post match thread.

I am not surprised , good manager , good work ethic , players in the main near or at their peak eager to get back into Europe.

A few tweaks from the side that won the title two years ago comfortably and away you go.

We have been on the decline for a while and Manure are just starting to get back to being semi competitive.

Arsenal are well Arsenal so Liverpool without Europe become the main challenger but personally I think you will win the title by 10 plus points this season from Liverpool.

We are in a battle with Spurs and Manure for fourth and quite possibly a losing one.

You have the strongest squad imo but you also have a couple of problem areas, get them sorted & you'll be fine. You mentioned Europe & funnily enough that would be a good measure of this current Chelsea team, I think if we were in the CL now we'd be almost embarrassed, we have a long long way to go & a lot of building before we could be a serious CL contender. I think MU could be stronger as time goes on too unfortunately.

City are out of the race both defeats against Chelsea and Leicester on top of the draws against Everton and Boro (two of the league games where you can say that we had only ourselves to blame) have killed any chances of keeping pace with them.
You must be excited about CL though, you could go far in that with a good draw later in the comp

One attempt. One goal.

We played a lot better than BT Sport gave us credit for.

All the pep haters come back to me in three years as by then we'll have sick swaned the Scouse bastards.

When you lookat the teamseets before the match. You would have to make us favourites but yet again we underperform. Not sure what effect pep has had on the team so far. This could of been a Pellers performance from last season. Where has all the dosh we spent in the summer gone?? We aint no better. Chelsea are reborn and Klopp has made a real impact at Liverpool. Questions should be asked.

How about next Christmas when he's left the club?

Early days still. 20 games into a reign that could last 4 or so years for Pep is nothing. My impression is Pep is a manager who needs his right type of player, intelligent players. He will no doubt get more & more of these players over time & that will be the time to judge him. I still think Mourinho is a quality manager & yet look how things went pear shape for him last season, sometimes it just takes a bit of time for things to fall in to place, but if the quality is there then it surely will.

IF Pep is given the reigns as to who to target it could be an exciting summer ahead.

For what its worth I don't think any of the summer buys figured in his plans for the medium term perhaps with the exception of Sane but I wouldn't bet my house on it.

Gabriel is the first of his players IMO.

Past runs on the board don't count for much in Pep's world and no one is immune to moving on provided the right deal can be made.

Attitude and weakness of character were the reasons Nasri , Hart and Mangala were moved on and Yaya had to smarten up or stay off the park on match days.

Its clear a number of players some who have many runs on the board and tasted success with City are struggling to come to grips to what is expected of them but Pep is giving them every chance to buy in.

It would be interesting to know how many of the current squad Pep would have given the choice of the side he wants to lead in the premiership.

My guess is not too many and those he wants might surprise us.

Absolute bs. A good manager gets the most out of his players by motivating and instructing / coaching them to play a certain way. We have one of th e best squads in the prem. Certainly better than Liverpool's. If people are stating that pep needs to replace the majority of the team to be successful then I dont really rate him as a manager.

Yep looking forward to it and do have a chance to put a run together in the comp but still an evolving side to win it.

Surely mark of a great manager and coach is to be able to get the most out of your players / team. If I had unlimited funds to buy whoever I wanted, I reckon I would do pretty well as a football manager too.

There is motivation and then there is cattle.

Pep doesn't have the right players yet , too many past their best and a few younger ones not yet ready for the hardened battle of the premiership.

All things considered he has probably got the results from this squad that they are capable of to date but I suspect it will get worse before we revamp the side which is painfully obvious well overdue now.

Notwithstanding the 5 new players , one who may have already played his last game for the club and a couple for the future with the other two already due for replacement I would suggest in the summer the rest of the squad is the same tired one in the main that accumulated 66 points last season and was well past its use by date then.

None of the five recruited over the summer command a starting place if others were fit etc but hopefully Sane and Stones will prove decent buys down the track.

I have listed the players that will not be part of the next generation and there are not many of the current squad that Pep's wants IMO.

Our squad is not as good as some may think it needs a massive overhaul and then we can see what makes Pep tick.

It hasn't served us too well over the past few windows.

We have to change the way we go about building the squad , money has to be well spent , having it is necessary for success of course and long term success at that but its no guarantee especially if its wasted on players who cannot buy into what is required for success or just are not good enough for what is required.

Why does Pep insist on picking Kolarov?? He's a liability, lazy and arrogant. If I never see him in a city shirt again, it will be too soon.
As I've said before, possession counts for fcuk all if you don't score. Our title challenge is over. If we continue to churn out this shit, we will be looking at 5th or 6th. A. Win for the Yids & Arse today will send us down to 5th with The rags knocking at the door. cnuts

Coaching & management in business, life, sport etc is about improving what you've got and maximising the outcome.

Since Bobby in 2012 we have manifestly failed to build on the momentum and subsequent opportunities. The PL has changed,TV money has levelled the field & weve trod water waiting (wasting)four years waiting for Pep.

Pep has publicly told us that we are not good enough to be successful this year and the players have taken him at his word. Not good management.

Pep & Conte are both new to the PL. Conte quickly accepted that he would have to vary his approach after they were drubbed by Arsenal. They have won 13 games on the bounce since then. Good Management. Pep has chopped & changed tactics, structure, players, subs but repeated the same naive mistakes. Not good management.

We have gone from top of the league 7 points clear of Renters,to 4th,10 points behind. Draw your own conclusions.

Last night he should've started Sagna and made his substitutions on 65 minutes. We knew we had to score fron very early on but made no attacking changes until the 88th & 89th minutes. Not good management. IMO he should've subbed Sergio & Yaya for Nacho & Navas(Sane). Moved Kev to centre mid & Sterling next to Nacho and told them to get crosses into the box and shoot on site. Two shots in 95 minutes in a game we knew we had to score !! To little to late. Not good management.

The players look confused, lacking understanding, belief & confidence from Bravo at the back,Stones in the centre to Kun up front. If the players are drifting is it any surprise that we're getting disappointed.

This league will not change to suit you Pep.....Adapt or fail !!!

1st half - dire... 2nd half - big improvement.

No end product....Liverpool did their job tactically and won the game 1-0 with a great goal starting from an error between Yaya and Kolarov.

Pep I'm afraid got his tactics totally wrong on this one and needs to learn from it, we're not Barcelona or Bayern and this league is a tough league.

Aguero....no support and quite clearly needed a 2nd striker up top, substitutions made too late.

Let's move on, no stopping Chelsea at the moment it seems.

Big improvements needed in 2017.

Happy New Year to all!

It's interesting seeing the difference in the fans of other clubs attitude towards Pep.
When it came out that he was joining us there was a fear from opposing fans about us running away with everything under Pep but now there are a lot of smirks and comments from them about how he's a complete fraud.
Personally i think he'll come good but i must admit to feeling a little surprised at just how little difference he's made to our results this season.
Yesterday we were poor yet again but the worrying aspect for me is that the players don't look as if they're buying into what Pep is trying to do
