Liverpool - the city

In the summer between sixth form and uni I was paid some pocket money to be an extra pair of hands for a firm that did some installation work in this building. Fascinating building and had old bomb shelters underneath, and of course being the noob meant they would turn the lights off on me whenever I was down there. Pure pitch blackness in a huge basement.

Very true. It’s for health reasons but I don’t particularly miss meat.

The weight is staying off and I’m more energetic than usual.

Both the Netherlands and Croatia last weekend catered for me.

The waterfront is the obvious place, some fantastic buildings down there. Outside the city, if the weather is good, Crosby beach is nice with the Gormley statues.

Depending on where you're staying, Lark Lane near Sefton Park has some great independent bars and restaurants (or at least it did pre-Covid, not been recently)

I've been quite a few times and had a good number of nights out there and it's a brilliant city.

Obviously the Docks area and Liver buildings are definitely worth a visit. It's not a big city centre so also head towards the Georgian Quarter to tick that off and you will be able to see the cathedral's too.

You should do something related to the Beatles as well. Not much to see around Anfield and Goodison and the area is best avoided in my opinion. It's pretty rough (assuming you've not been before) and obviously stay out of the boozers in those areas!

I'd recommend the Baltic Quarter as well. It's about a 20 min walk from the centre and it's a bit like the Northern Quarter. Lots of bars and restaurants and it's got a good vibe to it.

It's a great city with some cracking boozers and loads to see. It's only 38 mins on the direct train from Victoria and you'll have a great time. The people are decent and you'll have no problems.

Enjoy!

Cheese and Onion pie now! Birkenhead Asda does them.

I’m single and live alone. I was eating crap constantly. Convenience food.
