Has Rodgers had a growth spurt recently?

Re: Liverpool Thread 2012

I think this has a slightly better than 50/50 chance of succeeding.

Rodgers has done the right thing imo. Who knows how Swansea would perform next season and when an opportunity like this comes along at 39 there has to be a compelling reason not to take it. Human history is littered with people full of regret that they didn't take their chance in life when it came because they reckoned something better would come along sometime soon. Life is rarely that benign.

From NESV's point if view it will enable them to take stock of their investment for the next couple of years. Contrary to many on here I don't reckon they'll sack Rodgers if he fails to deliver CL football the season after next. Henry is well aware he will probably be able to recoup his investment as long as things don't deteriorate much further. That said, if things do get worse I reckon he'll be off. I imagine he doesn't view this investment with anything approaching the fondness he did twelve months ago.

I think if he's given next season to sort things out they could possibly be competing for top 4 the season after, but unless the infrastructure of the club changes then I reckon that will be the limit of their ambitions on an ongoing basis. Perhaps akin the where Villa were under O'Neill or where we were under Sven.

Still, Liverpool fans shouldn't be too despondent. We underachieved for about 30 years and in the main it was a right fucking laugh. They may as well embrace their new status as the laughing stock of English football. The wheel of football fortune has turned and now it's their turn for some 'character building' years in the wilderness.

Has he not signed for Swansea yet?

fee and personal terms agreed but I haven't heard the magic "medical done here he is with the shirt" announcement yet...having a medical probably tomorrow but I was just wondering into the possibility Liverpool could sneak in...

I doff my cap Sir. Pertinent, succint, yet sardonically casual, painfully resonant and, ultimately, an honest and truthful appraisal of their present predicament. It was pleasure to read such wonderful words.

Hulk, Hazard and Marin will cost Chelsea just £2million more than Downing, Henderson and Carroll cost Liverpool.

Hulk needs to man up if he wants to make it in the Prem. Very overrated and dives more than Ashley Young. Reminds me of a young Emile Heskey.

Well we'll just have to wait and see how overrated he is if/when he comes and starts playing. People said the same thing about Drogba when we signed him.
