lol its just words..... liverpool fans are easily pleased then

first couple of games it will be new manager syndrome, but after that hope they carry on dropping points

Rodgers is a very capable manager. If you weren't impressed by the way his Swansea side played the game then you don't know much about football. If the scousers can get over themselves and their 'istree' and just give the bloke the time and funding he needs, he will build a very good side for them.

I don't think they'll have the patience though.
Ofcourse i know about football so that's a stupid thing to say.. Yes i watched Swansea they were excellent which helps alot as they have quality players.

look at Kenny was he giving time? No
liverpool fans wants success again and fast. If he doesn't pick up many points in the league i can see their fans turning on him.

All am saying is this is a massive gamble by Liverpool.
It may well work out or it might not, we shall see.

Was Kenny giving time? What does that even mean?

The main problem Liverpool have is not the manager, but the squad. Too many average players (that have managed to get themselves picked for England somehow) who only play one in four games or so.

Whatever, I just don't think this is a gamble. He's a good manager, not a huge name but a very good manager.

The fans need to realise they are no longer a big draw for players or managers, they need to build a side that plays good football. They also need to be patient and let the manager do his job. If they do that, they have a good manager in place to do that job.

we will have to agree to disagree otherwise we are going round in circles.

Fair enough, but I think we both agree they, the fans need to be patient.

Re: Liverpool Thread 2012

L'pool are 25/1 to win the league!! I wouldn't take that bet if they were 250/1

Re: Liverpool Thread 2012

IMO, Rodgers is exactly what Liverpool need. With KKK, they were stuck with dark age football. Yes they made two finals and won one of them, so what? KKK clearly prioritised a coup win over top 4 once they got to February as they knew the squad wasn't good enough to challenge on all fronts.

They scraped past Cardiff in that final aswell.

Rodgers will bring passing football back to Liverpool. In turn, for me, that means fuck all chance for Carroll to shine and if Rodgers is given time to build the side using his own methods then I think we'll see Carroll saying his bye byes not before long.

Although who's gonna pay for him I'm not all that sure.

The biggest problem Liverpool will have is pleasing the fans. Like someone has already mentioned, they are impatient. They need to realise they just simply are not a top 4 club at the moment.

If Rodgers can get a 5th or 6th place finish in his first season the, in my eyes, that would be a job well done. The question is, whether Liverpool's fans will go along the same lines, or will they demand a champions league qualification push immediately which is, without doubt, absurd.

He needs to bring 4 or 5 players in I'd say and also offload some garbage.

Overall, I'd love him to succeed. I never used to mind Liverpool until they became cunts from management to fans recently and that was mainly down to the inept, dinosaur aged KKK and his stinking attitude when facing up to the cameras.

An interesting appointment that's for sure and a brave one from FSG which, to me, shows they know where they want the club going, despite what a lot of their fans think with regards to managerial candidates.

Re: Liverpool Thread 2012

He won't be able to play 'his way' as long as hey have carthorses like Downing, Henderson and Carroll in the team, you also have to remember Gerrard isn't one for playing like that either, he plays too many long balls and gives the ball away a lot.

Unless he gets 4/5 players who can play the way he wants and ships a few out, Gerrard included then he's on a hiding to nothing

In my opinion they would have been better off hiring a manager who can get the best out of the players they have and can play a way that Downing, Carroll etc are used to. Tony Pulis would have been a better appointment as far as the current playing staff are concerned

Re: Liverpool Thread 2012

What exactly is Rodgers' way of playing? Swansea played exactly like 'his style' of football long before he went there. His Watofrd and Reading sides were pretty terrible to watch. He's got this reputation for playing good football from nowhere, he simply inherited it at Swansea after Roberto Martinez set the ball rolling and did a very, very good job in changing the whole philosophy of the club. No denying that Rodgers did a fantatic job there, but it isn't like he started from scratch and built up a dynasty is it? He's about to get found out within the next 6 -12 months.

Nail firmly hit on the head.

Hardly pulled up any trees both results and style wise with Reading. Fair do's though he has got the job that Martinez should have got if liverpool really do want to go for the pass, pass style

Re: Liverpool Thread 2012

don't get me wrong I think Rodgers is a good manager and a good appointment for Liverpool however I think great credit for the job he has done at Swansea also has to go to his predecessors at Swansea in Martinez and carried on by Sousa. They laid the foundation for the football the club is playing today.
I saw Rodgers on Goals on Sunday a few months back and not at any point did he mention the work done before him to help Swansea to where they are today.
In Liverpool, Rodgers is taking over a club that is struggling and fingers crossed for the Premiership he can turn it around. But we may also see that maybe Liverpool should have gone with the man that came before Rodgers at Swansea in Martinez.
