Liverpool Thread 2013/14 (continued)

Read and Weep:
From RAWK.
Having seen more than a few people suggesting that Stevie's huddle after the City game was ruined by what happened next I decided to write this. It shows such a lack of bollocks in my view to let it morph from what it was into a joke. We didn't lose the title because of what Stevie said. He didn't slip because he said slip. It was one of the highlights of the season for me. Don't let it be ruined by gobshites.

We Go Again

A special season now is done
And sadly there's no title won.
But memories of how we played
Will hold us through these summer days.
One memory for me stands out
Our captain gives a rallying shout.
Emotion strong, he tells his men
We Go Again.

Those words so heartfelt and inspired
Don't change because of what transpired.
For Stevie is a man who leads
Desiring always to succeed.
Pushing himself and those around
To always reach for higher ground.
He bottled it? Go boil your head
Support your fucking team instead!
As we back ours and know that then
We Go Again.

So Chelsea came and things went wrong
And now they sing that fucking song
And flood the web with endless memes
Our captain's slip, their bitter dream.
Don't let them take those words from him
As if it's ruined by what they sing.
Don't let them say he fell on his arse
And gave the ball to Demba Ba.
Because though he did, we know he slipped
And from there they were well equipped
To defend their lead, to waste our time,
To keep their deep defensive line.
We know that horrid twist of fate
Was just one game of thirty-eight
As Mourinho spouts his bitter chat.
The Special One? The "Special" Twat.
I'll stick with backing Rodgers men.
We Go Again.

I'm proud of reds who backed their team
And lined the streets as they made us dream.
I'm proud of our courage and conviction
As we battered all pre-season predictions.
I'm proud that at 33-1
We oh so nearly had it won.
I'm proud of our captain and proud of his words
And proud I'll remain despite internet nerds
Who hide behind computers and type on their screens
And have no idea what that passion means.
It means that they care, that they'll fight for the club
For those in the ground and for those in the pub.
For those who support us home and away
And even the gloryhunters who turn up in May.
The importance of that passion cannot be diminished
Though our best season for years had a frustrating finish.
You'll see how it matters next season when
We Go Again.

Why is it obvious other teams will strengthen and progress, but it's obvious that we'll weaken and regress significantly? How come Arsenal who spent more days than anyone in 1st place didn't collapse, but we collapsed because we couldn't win 14 games in a row?

If we drop off slightly, that's still finishing a distant 3rd or 4th. There'll be a gap between you and Chelsea at 1/2 and the others--that's the real reason for the window shutting, not that "Liverpool FC will be totally clueless and not know what to do with the indignity of playing in Europe" .

Hopefully if we're not going to be challenging at the top as you predict, you win it again rather than the Rags, Chelski or Gunners. Nice coach, attractive style and not as cuntish, dirty, hypocritical, etc as the other three.

Of course Arsenal collapsed, they do every year though, that's why it's not talked about, it's fully expected.

Teams traditionally struggle after European games, especially if you're away in both, your squad has looked leggy for a couple of weeks anyway and if you're vaguely successful in the cups next year then you'll be playing somewhere between 25-50% more games next year with what looks like a thin squad. Of course you'll spend but I wouldn't say Rodgers has an exceptional record on that front...

The obvious one is that you played a lot less games than anyone else. Very few midweek, not a lot of travel. It will be harder for you next season. I think also you caught a few by surprise, and next year you'll face a lot more tactics to nullify your strengths.

As for collapse, you could make a case for both sides to have collapsed. More obvious for Liverpool as you topped the table until the last week.

I think 4th would be an excellent result for Liverpool next season.

I don't think you will 'regress' as a team, but I don't think you have the money to compete with Us, Chelsea or United, or with Arsenal to an extent.

The main factor is adding European football back into the mix and the added pressure of what you almost achieved this season, you can't be telling me that Liverpool fans won't expect another title challenge?

You played a lot of this season with little pressure, going under the radar, playing some good football and then throwing a great run together at the end of the season.

Next season you will start the season with a weight of expectation, I don't think the squad you have for next season will be able to cope with that pressure or to compete in the league or CL.

This is quite a good point, as soon as they were actually favourites they bottled it in a style that Baconface circa 2011/12 would have been proud of.

Plus. I think Suarez's first words on return from the World Cup will be Adios Amigos.

I've read some vomit-inducing shite from Liverpool fans on there but this one comes close to topping the lot. Are they deliberately trying to outdo each other in the cringe stakes?
