Liverpool thread 2017/18

To use your own parlance, I genuinely have no idea why you're trying to twist my words.

This thread is about Liverpool ,and I was referencing their strange relationship with the media and the Merseyside Police, particularly with regard to the trashing of the City bus.and the subsequent lack of arrests.

The only time I mentioned Rome was because the English bullies are suddenly panicking about next week, and the threat of an encounter with even bigger bullies. It was the same when United played there a few years ago.

Did you go to Rome, because I travelled and didn't experience any problems. It was the same at PSG and Parkhead, where both sets of supporters told me that City were the friendliest set of English supporters to visit.

I don't need a condescending lecture about Napoli, because I've been there twice. However, I've also witnessed drunken City idiots on a German train after the friendly in Stuttgart. The big difference, is that unlike Liverpool, we admit that we've got our fair share of idiots, who ruin it for others.

Rome is a lovely place in the daytime, but you need your wits about you when Roma play at home.
If Liverpool respect the local culture, and don't act like dicks, they'll be fine.

Well let us hope that is the case but sadly, and I do not wish to be condescending, but it did not help boro or spurs fans who were also attacked and received serious injuries there.

I would be very surprised if that 53 year old bloke was behaving disrepectfully also.

As for a Condescending lecture about Napoli I merely highlighted an incident which happened outside Mary Ds, I have no idea the relevance of your trips to Napoli with regards this but glad you enjoyed your trip

So basically they are screwed.

Yeah totally fucked because regardless of what they try to behave like it is to late.....can imagine the thieving scousers trying to nick cans of lager from the local shops then trying their luck in the local retail shops for some clothing to replace their fake moncler, canada goose and north face clobber

They didn't no, a few ****s attacked a cafe, not the organised mob attacking the fans outside the stadium. Trust someone who lived there for a year as a Real Betis ticket holder, Sevilla Ultras as a whole had no bother with us as we're not a scalp. Liverpool have made themselves a scalp.

The dippers have brought this on themselves by cultivating an image of themselves being the only 'Ultra' style support in the PL.
This is a clear invitation to the established, european ultra groups to go after them...

They wanted to play the game, but now the big boys have get involved they don't like it...

Clearly not their fault though...

RAWK
“I can't wait till we play them next season, as European Champions, chanting "Where's your European Cups?".. Mo, Sadio and Bobby ripping them new arseholes again. We've got the measure of these, and the more they grow to hate us, the more we should realise their resentment is truly a respect of the deepest kind”

Oh dear......

Pure dillusion from an arrogant set of cnuts.

Ugh...

First up, Liverpool as a football team are playing great football this year and deserve their success. Any right minded football fan would agree.

The club and the fans tho......This intent to whip up a febrile "hostile" environment is really troubling. The line from them is they're not to blame for the acts of some mindless louts at games. The majority shouldn't shame the minority, etc. I get that. Problem is though, they have been reckless in the extreme in terms of their involvement with "welcomes" to opposing teams and fans. It is amazing they are so reckless given the history of the Liverpool fanbase, given that 14 of their fanbase were convicted by a court for causing the death of 39 people which led to an entire ban on all English clubs in European competitions.

Their actions pre QF were reckless and dangerous in themselves, leaving alone the dangerous and disgusting history of their fans. 600+ missile raining down on a bus driving down a public road isn't "atmosphere". It is sinister and dangerous. It sends out signals that this is all somehow ok and provides an excuse for the minority to pick at and behave as they seek to. The club then, despite all this, misguidedly publicised a "welcome" for the semi. It is very likely that this permeated into the Roma support and may well have led to their disgraceful behaviour last night*.

Liverpool as a club, and Liverpool fans, need to acknowledge that this isn't on and is dangerous. Unless or until that happens there is a risk that more people will be hurt attending football matches involving Liverpool. Their fans, more than anyone, should understand that losing your life as a consequence of going to a football match should NEVER happen.

*UEFA after the QF could have acted and ordered a behind closed doors punishment. if they had have done so the poor sod from last night wouldn't have been in the position to be hurt. They need to have a good look a themselves too.
Superb post

I’m well aware of what happened outside Mary D’s, and the subsequent sentencing of the Napoli thugs, but thanks for trying to educate me.

Similarly, I’m the same age as the injured Liverpool fan, and yet two Roma fans were arrested within a few hours.

Bayern Munich have already been charged, after last night’s one-man pitch invasion, and he's been arrested.

How many Liverpool fans have been arrested, charged, or cautioned, for even a minor offence, before our game at Anfield?

That's why so many City fans are annoyed.

Funny how they wanted to send us home with our tails between our legs but when they are likely to be on the receiving end of some serious violence they go crying to their mummy. Fucking arsewipe of a club.

It would serve them right if the Rome Police said "We'll give you the same protection as the Merseyside police gave us and Manchester City. We'll escort your team coach through a mob of Ultras and allow them to get a good vantage point on our police vans. We'll take no action when they pelt you with incendiary devices, bricks and bottles. We'll let your fans wander around without an escort so they're an easy target. Now fuck off."

This bit from that press report is interesting and echoes what most of us have been saying:
“There was terrible policing of public order outside the stadium,” lawyer Lorenzo Contucci told AGI news agency.

“The competent authorities had been warned, but there was not a single policeman following these fans from the city centre to the stadium. They were happily allowed to do whatever they wanted.

“Seeing as the serious error was made by the local police, if Roma are to be punished, then I think UEFA also need to look at Liverpool for the senseless approach to public order.

This ^

Nobody is saying there isn’t trouble at places but the scousers, club & police have been complicit & saw us as fair game. They boasted before & after about scaring the shit out of us. Our police ensured there was no problems for them.

They are petrified of exactly the same reaction from Italian cops, turn the other way you’re on your own. Fight back & you’ll be nicked.

They will never change until they admit their faults, lies, revisionist tales & media intimidation with a bit of cringy poetry thrown in.

It’s the hypocrisy that drives everyone mad, we aren’t excusing the attacks by Roma.

“Why always me” was a way of telling Mario think about how your conduct brings shit to your doorstep. Maybe Liverpool should wear “why always us” t shirts.

Again I hope the bloke pulls through.
