I can only agree in part with what you say, but also think that much of your view is shaped by an overall dislike/hatred/scorn (whatever word or strength of feeling you hold) for the club and fans as a whole.
Yes Liverpool fans must take blame for what happened on the day, as they must for ewhat happened at Heysel. I do seek to deny or mitigate anything that some fans of "my club" did, have done or will do. There are complete wankers amongst our fans ...but there are at all clubs.

I think your response, although it may simply be due to the short nature of it, does not reflect the general view of all football supporters at the time. From the 70s through the 80s and 90s drink, drugs hooliganism seemed to be drawn to football. the view that it was fun to go for a ruck and pint(s) and Oh yes, the football may have been incidental for some.

As with everything in life I take the view that we should all accept our mistakes, stand by them and seek to apologise for them. Others may not like what you have done but you can at least then try and move on from them.

With all the milestones that have gone on and the ending of this last legal action I do hope that, whilst not forgetting the 96, that the fans and the club and the media can move on from this.

As was said by others, to keep on banging on about this, demanding someone is hung up for what happened (beyond the H&S guy) risks cries of hypocracy when considering those guilty of what happened at Heysel.

the old line..."people in glass houses"
I agree, but what I was getting at is that elements of their fan base refuse point blank to accept ANY responsibility for what happened when that simply wasn't the case.

Ye, it could have happened to any club in reality, but it didn't. And I would have said the same thing if it had been City, Leeds, ManUre, Arsenal...

First they wanted the truth, then they got their truth.
They didn't want convictions, then went looking for convictions.
If it doesn't fit their narrative it's an injustice, I await pages upon pages of cover ups and injustices in the scouse dominated media, shame there isn't the same media coverage for the 39 murders in heysal.
There was no cover up. The altered statements they bleat on about were personal viewpoints that were removed. Not statement of fact.

Many of which were actually damning of the Liverpool fans calling them animals and hooligans and what not. Such words for instance were altered to supporters instead of animals.

Yes there were some opinions and paragraphs of officers saying in my opinion....this should have happened or I didn’t think we had enough officers etc. But these opinions were all they were - not fact and hence removed.

The way it is portrayed in the media and to the general public is ridiculous regarding the altering of statements as if loads of damning evidence had been removed when that is not the case at all. The originals without the redactions still exist and they have added nothing to the case, if anything it paints their supporters in a more damning light.

I’ll add to my previous post that I don’t blame the Liverpool supporters just as I don’t blame the police. Actions by both contributed - no doubt about that but the total blame can’t be pinned on one or the other.

It was a perfect storm, good weather, lateness, ticketless fans, inexperienced police, hooliganism, shithouse money grabbing Del Boy chairman cutting corners with health and safety to name a few. Health and Safety officers not doing their job and probably more I've forgotten.

I always wonder if the barrier that gave way had been up to code would it have been just one of those games. The one that many have been to in standing times where there are far too many and you feel penned in but luckily get out fine, or get the chance to move back and get some air.

When Beardsley hit the bar, the crowd surged forward as they would do and that dodgy barrier gave way and that caused the crush at the front as people fell forward. I also wonder whether that barrier might have held out if not for that ball hitting the bar in the first few minutes too while people will still rushing in.

It really could have happened anywhere. Even at City when Swales would jam fans in and I reckon he would have taken short cuts on health and safety and getting things signed off too. Or he certainly came across that way.

I still think it’s an absolute travesty that all English clubs got banned from Europe due to their actions. It should have been them and them only who were banned.
Clubs like Wimbledon,Luton and Coventry missed out on European football through no fault of their own depriving them of making there own piece of history.
I’ve said it before, but Heysel was the straw that broke the camel's back.

English fans had been causing mayhem throughout Europe for years, so it wasn’t only Littlewoods supporters, who were culpable; it was the collective.

The English football hierarch might look very different if that had been the case. Kendall's Everton might have dominated for a decade and we might never had heard of bacon-face!

Although I hate the scousers for Heysel, and for milking Hillsborough for as much they can.... I think the fact that everyone has gotten away with this shit is atrocious. The law courts in this country are totally and utterly setup to protect the elite. 1 person (A Health and Safety guy at the ground) has been prosecuted.
Not sure how the police have got away with altering the statements/evidence when policemen of the time have come out and said they were ordered to do it.

Disgusting tbh.

'No case to answer' on a point of law, as ruled by a judge.
If the judge is wrong it can be appealed but it's hard for a layperson to argue they know the law better than a judge.
The sad aspect is that there was undoubtedly a cover-up/conspiracy at the time that delayed matters long enough for the full truth to be lost in a fog.
