You may well have won it too and were banned for doing absolutely NOTHING wrong !! Kin disgrace !! And for all the self-proclaimed 'special' Anfield Euro nights I always hear that the best ever atmosphere in Liverpool for a european game was the 1985 night at Goodison.....
The Bayern game. What a game. I was there and it still remains my fav. The atmosphere was incredible.

The good memories. Now I just sit there laughing at the boos ha ha

'No case to answer' on a point of law, as ruled by a judge.
If the judge is wrong it can be appealed but it's hard for a layperson to argue they know the law better than a judge.
The sad aspect is that there was undoubtedly a cover-up/conspiracy at the time that delayed matters long enough for the full truth to be lost in a fog.
No fan of LFC, but will always support them over Hillsborough. The cover up is so clear and so awful.

Absolutely. Read some testimony from people who were there right in the thick of it, next to people who died. Harrowing stuff. Absolutely no way you'd ever get over that. Huge cover up.

It could have happened to any group of fans. All football fans were treated like scum by the police in those days. You had to be there to see how bad it was. The worst crush I have been in at a stadium was in the Leppings Lane at Hillsborough for a City match at Christmas a few years before the disaster. The ground was a death trap.
The problem was that the press and the Government couldn't wait to stick the boot into Liverpool fans because of what had happened previously at Heysel. Hillsborough was nothing to do with hooliganism but the Liverpool fans were hung out to dry by the media and politicians and the gullible public lapped it up.

I think the verdict of 'no case to answer' for all 3 individuals puts a big question mark over why the cases were prosecuted rather than a cover up/whitewash as some have intimated. I think the Hillsborough cow has been milked dry, time to move on.
Yes I wonder why, if the defendants could not be tried for perjury, the trial took place or lasted as long as it did.

I remember going to Hillsborough in the 80s and the space behind the stand was like a funnel, wide as you entered and narrow as you got further in. I'm sure it must have contributed to the crush.

Didn’t they knock us out at Maine Road in the 5th/6th round that year?
There is a lot to dislike about that club and its fanbase, and I have no love for them whatsoever, as regular readers of this thread will realise. But not this.
The exact same thing could have happened to any big away following anywhere in the 80s. It could quite easily have been us if we had a better team.
I’ll always remember being at Ewood Park that day for Gerry Taggart’s darkest hour and the two coppers stood behind us gleefully telling anyone in earshot that ‘the cup semi is abandoned, the fucking Scousers are at it again”
Post Heysel, pretty much everyone nodded. We didn’t know but the fix was already in.
The true horror only unfolded as we got back to Victoria Station. One guy made a wisecrack and got battered all over the platform.
Some of them were only schoolkids. When I think of children the same age as my City-mad, season ticket holder nieces and nephews actually dying at a match is beyond belief nowadays.
As for those defending this verdict, there are countless instances of the judiciary siding with the establishment and probable Masonic links over the interests of justice and the interests of the people. The cases of many like the Birmingham 6, Guildford 4, McGuire 7 etc show you that.
Hundreds have died in police custody over the last 40-50 years yet there has been I think one successful prosecution ever.
Don’t insult anybody’s intelligence by claiming the independence of the judiciary. They are products of a system designed to protect that same system

I’ll never forget that drive back from Blackburn listening to the horror unfolding on the radio. A black day for football and as you say, it could have been anyone involved on the day
