There’s nothing wrong with playing long balls. We deploy it n’all a lot more than people take notice of ourselves. Don’t know where this notion comes from that long ball football is shit football. It’s what makes football, and especially English football, so good - there are teams that play differently to to each other. And it’s all great. They play hoof ball. No one can or will convince me otherwise.
They go on about ‘trent’ and ‘robbo’ delivering these fantastic balls. Well when you are hoofing it forward behind the defenders every time you get the ball then one or two will come off and make you look like a worldy. Forget the 10 that go no where.
It’s not like Liverpool play aimless hoof balls up like it’s in random hope that it lands in their favour, there’s a skilful purpose to it and they do it very well. And so do we.
