Can't see them going anywhere under Klopp, but do think they won't be as good as they have been

They need a bit of an overhaul but they do normally get it right in the market

But they are going to have to spend a lot more money than they've done in the past to get it done

Done a comparison between both clubs, age wise and contracts expiring per year its pretty samey...advance us is that were more likely to spend money and not stand still then they will

Gk: Even
29 - Allison vs Ederson - 28
23 - Kellegher vs Steffan - 27

FB: Walker is the outlier here
23 - Trent Arnold vs Walker - 31
25 - Joe Gomes vs Cucurella* - 23
28 - Robertson vs Cancelo - 28
26 - Tmiskas vs Zinchenko - 25

CB: we have the slight edge
30 - VVD vs Stones - 28
30 - Matip vs Laporte - 28
23 - Konate vs Dias - 25 (Ake - 27)

CM: we have the clear edge
32 - Henderson vs Gundogan 31
31 - Thaigo vs KDB - 30
28 - Fabinho vs Rodri - 25
28 - Keita vs Bernardo - 27
28 - Oxlade-chamberlaim vs Phillips - 26
21- Jones vs Palmer 20
36 - Milner

ATT: We have the slight edge
30 - Salah vs Sterling - 27
22 - Nunes vs Haaland - 21
25 - Dias vs Foden - 21
25 - Jota vs Grealish - 26
30 - Firmino vs mahrez - 31 (Alvarez - 22)

There isn't much in it, they have some good youth players as do we

Now contracts

Expire 23
Salah, Mane, Firmino, Keita vs Sterling, Jesus, Mahrez, Gundogan = pretty even, Mane/Salah>Jesus/Sterling but Mahrez/Gundo>Firminio Keita

Expire 24
Foden, Rodri, Walker, Zinch vs Thaigo, Matip, Gomez, Minimino = Ours are FAR more pressing but due to ages Foden/Rodri extensions are inevitable. Then it's clear advantage us, will Liveprool offer extensions go Matip/Thiago who will be 32? They will need replacing as would Walker for us

Expire 25
KDB, Bernardo, Laporte, Ake, Steffan vs TAA, Jota, VVD, Jones, Tsimikas, Henderson = more pressing for us. You'd imagine TAA, Jota and Tsimikas will have their contracts renewed as they are of the right age profile. Whereas we are unlikely to have Bernardo, KDB will be 33 and Laporte 31 who has been linked away. Obviously Henderson will be faced out for them but VVD will still be a big loss

Moral of the story, they won't be going anywhere too far while Klopp is there.....and that I have too much time on my hands on a Sunday during off-season
Agree that Klopp will ensure that they remain competetive, however Van Dijk is 30% of their team and allows them to play with such a high line. He will not be easily replaced

New song for the dippers
To the tune of fields of Athenry

Oh by the streets of St Denis
Where once we tried to jib in for free
The cops they used tear gas
The locals kicked our ass
It's so nasty round the streets of St denis

Silly question here perhaps - but have they always been like this and we are just paying more attention to them now since they appear to he our main threat or has their media love in and all the crap they spout gotten worse.

Is our success connected to their increased bullshit rhetoric?
It's always been there we just didn't see it
Ask any Rag and they will tell you that the dippers were always the darlings of the media and everyone was against them
We on the other hand thought its was the other way round, but maybe this once the raggy twats were right and it's been the bin dippers all the time

Liverpool could go into the 23/24 season a year from now without Mane, Salah and Firmino. The front 3 which their “greatest team” was built on for so long.

Next season will be their last as an elite challenger unless new and future signings somehow turn out to be as good as that line up was for them. You’d have to say the odds of that happening aren’t in their favour.

Not only that but as the Nunez signing has shown they won’t be able to get the likes of a Salah or Mane for £30m anymore. The value from these types of players, even when purchased from smaller clubs, has shot straight up.

Klopp cracking up 18 months from now.
I find it is more to do with the manager than the personel. Klopp gets great things from whomever he coaches, same as Pep.

Whoever lfc have on their playing staff they will do well because he's a good manager (I hate to say it), the media support them, seemingly so do the refs/pigmol.

Agreed that lfc have to pay more nowadays. Hopefully FSG dont see the potential and rely on Klopp to do it on a
"shoestring".

When we won the league under pellergrini and lost 3-2 at anfield, i had the misfortune of going into a pub in wavertree after going to the game as my dad has scouse pals (i know).
the vermin were particularly chipper as they thought theyd pretty much won the prem that day.
Anyway, got talking to one and he was pointing out photos that were around the bar of european trips theyd all been on. Showed me one, cant remember where, of a stand they were all in. They were stood on seats with someone stood in front of them, so basically doubled up. He told me there was twice as many in the stand as there shouldve been. People jumping turnstyles, passing tickets back through, etc. He was pretty proud.
I smiled , as you do. But all i was thinking was , “do you lot never fuckin learn”.
I remember recently a photo from Paris of three LiVARpool supporters with the caption " just jibbed my dad in."

Just a reminder….

Liverpool first won the FA Cup 61 and 59 years after City and Everton respectively.
Up until 1973 City and liverpool had the same number of major trophies each, 8. So if City have no history when did liverpools history start?
Was it after investment from Littlewoods? Did we get the same net spend narrative whilst they were able to spend significantly more than other teams as a result of that investment or is that " history " conveniently forgotten?

The latest sermon from the constantly entertaining Liverpool thought bank is possibly the best one yet

Today, playing for LFC is the ultimate Football challenge for a player.

When you sign for LFC...You are expected to win 4 trophies. You will play so many games that every muscle will be stretched to bits. You are up against the richest team in history who buy 100 million players like Grealish for fun every summer and put them on the bench like a showpiece. All 38 league games are a potential banana peel. You will have to play high octane, entertaining Football and be thrown in the situation of needing pull off late winning goals almost every week. And you won't be paid top dollar in salary like the rich clubs do. You have only 2 things going for you - you get the best coach in the world and Anfield.

This is not for the faint of heart. It's the most fun Football job available by an absolute mile. Imagine. Being. Us.

"Expected to win 4 trophies" first time in klopps reign they won 2, they are usually out of the cups before Feb. City meanwhile regularly win multiple cups and we're the first to do the domestic quad.

We "buy £100 million players for fun" after Grealish, our next highest spend is 60 on dias. Liverpool have 4 players who cost more than that...

"Won't be paid top dollar" I keep forgetting everybody plays for free for a club who have one of the top 5 highest wage bills in the world.

I can't get enough of the delusion.

The best bit is about needing to score late winning goals !!!!
Aided and abetted by Pigmol of course .

They’re having to take long term punts on youngsters like Elliot Carvalho & Ramsay in the hope they pay off to balance the big signings, which is a big shift from signing players just under the radar, they are operating at both ends of the scale as opposed to the middle ground where the likes of Spurs & Arsenal do their bidding. To compete with us in the next five years they’re going to have to go big & hope most come off just to hang on to our coat tails
