He always maintains he brought in nutrition specialists long before Wenger took the credit for revolutionising that aspect of English football
I’m pretty sure that Big Mal introduced some sort of dietary restrictions on City players, during his time as Sir Joe's assistant.

Didn't Big Mal also introduce a ballet dancer to advise the players on poise, balance and movement ?

Yes I'm sure I remember reading that. It's not as far fetched as many would think. Many moons ago when I did Thai boxing at Master Toddy's, we were training when he took us into a room next door. Two young women ran dance classes there and he had them put us through some of their exercises. He said it helped with balance and movement.

Big Mal did introduce a ballet dancer he also brought in international athlete Derek Ibbotson to help with stamina training. Think he was one of the first to use Fartlek and Parluaf (sp) type of training.
His book soccer for thinkers was a good read all those years ago

Years ago when I was doing film/TV Extra work I met this small, wiry-looking chap who turned out to be a stunt man - for women! Because of his small stature he was often asked to double for an actress who had to fall over, or crash a car, whatever, and he told me ballet dancing was an integral part of all stuntman training. Makes sense, I suppose. Balance being so important.

Yes it's interesting and surprising the training sportsmen, or as you say stuntmen/women do to perfect their craft. I remember Bruce Lee used to do katas to Indian music.

There was a rather diminutive stunt man on Doctor Who in the 70s called Stuart Fell, doubled for Tom Baker which was funny as Baker must have been over 6 inches taller.

Fell did fire eating and juggling remember he broke his arm live on Saturday morning kid's tv and just carried on.

He was a bit of a mad bastard, ex Para, did a lot of doubling for companions on the show including Katy Manning, Liz Sladen and Louise Jameson, in full costume and makeup. It being the 70s, he often got gropped and had his arse pinched, when in drag! Christ knows what the actual women had to put up with.
