Llandudno

Worth a day on Conwy which is only ten minutes or so drive away, and there are some nice drives in the foothills of Snowdonia west of Llandudno. As already mentioned the Great Orme is a must, quite an easy climb from Happy Valley beyond the pier, or you can get the tramway up to the top. Worth a walk around too. If you are into ancient history the bronze age copper mine is well worth a visit, a short walk from the summit back into Llandudno.
Plus St Tudno’s church and cemetery on the Great Orme.

I love Conwy, used to have a caravan on a site there until it got too expensive to keep. Took my kids there for years and over to Ireland as well.

in that case, use it as a chat-up line...

find the nearest wine bar,
they're always full of women on the pull.
go up to them with your cheekiest of smiles and say
"would either of you ladies like me to take you up the funicular?"
Ah, the old 'Cheeky' smile, gets em every time

Years ago with my wife and youngish son we went up the Great Orme on the tram. Had a drink in the cafe at the top and decided to walk back down. Ended up having a sheep/goat shit kicking competition all the way down, great fun.

Used to live in N.Wales. Llandudno was about an hour from where we lived. Out of season was okay, but peak holiday season was often carnage (loads of Scousers all up and down the N.Wales coast line towns and cities).

I spent my childhood holidays on the Warren, Gronant. 1952-1965. The Council came up with some bullshit idea of building a powerstation there, after a court case, the place was bulldozed and there immediately appeared concrete bases for static caravans. Soon to be swarming with bin-dippers, it didn’t take them long to destroy the sand dunes, thankfully they were barb wired off and eventually recovered.

Conwy is a stunning place although can get very busy, Llandudno is full of people sat on benches waiting to die.

I used to love Bala and the area around there, if the weather is good, there are few more beautiful places in the world.
I met someone from Bala in Portugal years ago.
Spent a nice afternoon sinking a few and talking shite he told me quite proudly that it was one of the few places in Britain that had more dry days than anywhere else.

Went there camping a couple of years later, you know the rest!

My eventual plan is to migrate across to North Wales so I can still actively get to where I need to be. As much as I love South, it’s just so slow down there.
