Looking back, how do you feel about Hughes now?

to gauge opinion ?

Which we all know is incredibly split, and has been since day one.

So im with GStar, what is the point?

Because now we can give a better analysis of Hughes' tenure. What's the point in discussing anything in the past? In fact what's the point in duscussing anything on here? Might as well just not discuss anything!

Its a bit like Formula 1

Mark hughes assembled a great team...unfortunately he wasnt Ross Braun.

My wife thinks Mancini's a dish and that's good enough for me. She never said 'owt about Hughes, but Roberto's caught her eye. And, I have to agree with her.

To me he looks the part in his City scarf and when its snowing, his City baseball cap, but to her he's 100% Italian flair and good looks. Who am I to disagree when the players respond to him like they have done ?

She never said a dicky-bird about Hughes, even though he was always smartly turned out, but the charming Roberto has won her over. "He even smiles in interviews" said she, never one to offer comments about Hughes's lack of personal charm and charisma.

Hang on a minute, the missus is shouting me..."Can we go to Italy for our holidays this year?"

She's never asked if we could go to Wales...

Best turned out Manager in the prem....can you blame her..

Is it my imagination or are all the people 'not seeing the point' of discussing Hughes, former Hughes Inners. Coincidence? I think not. Seems obvious that Mancini has shown him up to be the severely limited, tactically inept manager, with the 'small time' mentality that many on here argued him to be. I'm not surprised his former supporters don't want to talk about that. Stability my arse.

Fucking hell here come the Hughes censorship brigade again

This is something that has been bothering me for a while now. After Mancini’s first game in charge any mention of Hughes’ tenure seems to warrant responses like ‘that’s the past now let’s concentrate on the present’.
The manager is the most important person at a club and whilst Hughes was manager for 18 months it’s hard to think of someone who divided opinion so much. It’s only now that we’ve got a new manager in to compare to that we are beginning to find conclusive answers to the questions and theories that we’ve been discussing over the past 18 months. Yet we're nt allowed to talk about it? What's all that about?

Bordering on ridiculous my arse - it's less than a month since he left and any comment comparing Mancini's start to Hughes' reign is shot down and isn't allowed to be discussed

Its ridiculous cos during those 7 draws on the spin this forum was split between 'Hughes In & Hughes Out'. Any mention of sacking him off was shot down straight by the blue tinted glasses brigade quoting the phrases like ' get behind the manager and your club', 'the players need encouragement not slagging off', 'we need time to gel', 'it wont happen over night'..

Now we've won 4 on the spin, conceded one goal under a new manager, all everyone wants to do now is draw comparison. Well for me there is no comparison, Mancini looks (albeit early days) the complete package. The way he's got us defending and attacking as a team, the way we look so much more organised at set pieces, we actually look like we're enjoying playing football.

I know its inevitable that we feel the need to compare but in this instance its not needed. We look like twice the team Mark Hughes left us and for me as a supporter i've gone from writing this season off, to actually believing we can win something.

I think he is a red **** that might have cost us the league.
In a season where no one wants to win the league the dropped points during our drawing run have cost us the best chance we have had for 30+ years.
4 points more + the game in hand and we could be serious challengers.
If buts and maybes I know but all the same big big chance gone.

We had a great start under Hughes too, winning 5 on the trot (1 being Barca). Mancini looks like he is the superior manager but after three weeks what conclusions can ewe actually draw?

I wish these type threads would die, whats the motive/point being them?

I thought Hughes lost his first game in charge at Aston Villa?

And wasn't the Barceloina game THIS season?

You were quite complimentary of Hughes last time I saw you, what happened!?!?
