I’m going off memory now, which is never a good idea but I think we played them in both their first ever games in Division 2 and then Division 1. The division two one was definitely a draw. 2-2 at Plough Lane. But that would have been well before what we’re talking about here.

City had pretty good support that day from memory, I was in the seats. Didn't a load of Neanderthal type Chelsea fans who'd had an early kick off (?)try to get in (they seemed to have a lot of early kick offs in the 80s to supposedly lessen the likelihood of trouble!).
Most of our games at Plough Lane or Selhurst against Wimbledon were generally turgid affairs with small away followings (and very few home fans too!) The exception was probably the cup game in 99 when we had about 6,000 there, and outnumbered the home fans.

I went down on the service train, coming back overnight was a slog, change at Newton Abbot, Bristol and Brum - grabbing a couple of hours sleep in the waiting room at Temple Meads. I think we were all a bit mad in the 70s and 80s!

Was at both those games, the Swansea game was the first time I remember hearing "We never win at home..." sung, after the match. I think it may have been Joe Corrigan's last appearance for City?

I can remember a mid week trip to Ipswich in '76, towards the end of the season, just one Finglands coach and a few Southern-based Blues. Also the following season at QPR, midweek again, only about 200 or so on the open terrace and we were 2nd or 3rd in the table. Some Chelsea fans tried to charge us on the terrace IIRC (already mentioned by @mancityvstoke )

Funny when they legged it back as we stood our ground then ran at them.

Anfield 81, about a week after losing the FA Cup final replay. Very few of us there that night and we lost 1-0.
We went in their main stand rather than act like dartboards.

From the footage, doesn’t look like we had many at Plymouth for the 6-3 win in the League Cup in Oct 88. Was that rearranged after the first one was called off due to fog or something? I went to Plymouth that year in the January when we were 2-0 up at half time and lost 3-2! Two lads I knew at the time decided to drive that day from London and had car problems! They got in at half time. From memory we probably had about 800 there that day.

I remember a re-arranged game versus Spurs in the 90s midweek and only a handful there. I think Klinsman scored a couple for Spurs.

I went by club coach and only about 8 people were on it.

Yes I was at the 3-2 and 1-0 win sat in the Maine stand for the 1-0 with top City lads that day,at the time I was working in Bude so not far to travel.

The original game for the League Cup was the Tuesday. I was on one of the 2 official supporters club coaches that turned back at Taunton when news came through the game was off. It only started pissing it down as we hit Bristol but it was torrential.

The game was played (as you said) the following day and City won 6-3. No way could I get the 2nd day off work so missed it.

However, I then had to travel back to Plymouth again on the Saturday for the League game - Brian Gayle heading in the only goal.

Incidentally, City had played away at Ipswich the previous Saturday.
Swales presented a certificate to those fans travelling on the supporters coach on all four trips.

Millwall away when away supporters were banned. Just me, my son and a mate as well as some in a hospitality box which came under attack after they celebrated the third goal going in.

I think that was the first time I met @Vic and his lad.

I remember not wanting to leave the pub near Thornton Heath station. I also remember the Stone Roses album being played to death by the coach driver on the way home.

I went to the Ipswich one from London. The inflatables craze was at its peak around then. I think Frankenstein had a scrap with paddling pool (or similar :-) )

Pre season 1996, City played in China. Only one of 3 games played due to a Monsoon.
City flew back early and made a hastily arranged friendly at Scarborough (which I went to).
However if I recall 3 Blues went to China.
Wilson (Jocky) Pratt was one of them and they got stuck there
