Lucas Paqueta investigated by FA for alleged betting breaches

Looks very bad for him. Feel like the only mitigating factor here would be if a criminal gang were threatening his family or something.

Bookmakers seem to want things both ways. They want to offer markets on these kind of things which are totally open to manipulation so they take money from people whose gambling is so out of control they'll gamble on anything. But then they're outraged when then the inevitable happens.
Can surely be the only explanation as he was risking a lot more than he was likely to win.

Doubt WHU knew about this, guess the FA were conducting an investigation which, they may well have had to make public sooner than they initially anticipated due to the possible transfer. Part of City's due diligence would have been to check that he wasn't subject to any possible suspension and any ongoing civil legal cases, hence why the FA would have had to inform all parties of the investigation.

In a sport pretty much propped up by the betting industry this kind of behaviour is probably the tip of the ice berg for me. Obviously we don't know details yet but first Joe Lewis done for insider trading now this I bet gambling in different forms is rife within the game at all levels of clubs from boardrooms to players

I suspect you have got that spot on. WHU probably found out at the same time we did. Interesting if the player and his agent knew. If so, that is an agent we shouldn’t deal with again. We could have shelled out £80m on a guy facing a 12 month ban. Probably longer if he is found guilty of deliberately getting yellow cards.

Isn't his agent ex City player Barry Silkman?

It seems to me highly unlikely that Sullivan knew nothing of the FIFA/FA investigations. They have been in process for months and were only admitted after affecting the Selaceo.
