Lucy Letby infant murders trial - Guilty verdict (P 13)

7 Consultants wanted her removed because they were so concerned and in the past that is exactly what would have happened. Nowadays there is a layer of senior/business management that are only concerned with protecting the business.

It's just another example of the creeping Corporatism that is disempowering all of us and in this case with terrible and tragic results.

They should have gone to the press If it wasn't being investigated properly

The director of nursing who alledgedly ignored the complaints worked at Wythenshawe hosital as head of nursing for Surgery and was promoted to deputy chief nurse before moving to Chester. I worked with her while she held the Surgery post and she was very well respected. It's hard to believe she may have played some part in this awful tragedy.

Didn't they mention on Panorama last night that she herself was saved by similar nurses when she was born prematurely.

Then she grows up to be the same kind of nurse but instead of saving the premature babies she kills and hurts them.

Sounds like she planned it all along. Spent all that time training to be the nurse who murders babies while playing all sweet and innocent.

Absolutely this. The management structure here has completely failed those parents. So many deaths in such a short time period should be an automatic outside investigation. The more you read, the more horrendous it is. This is the problem with the NHS. Way too many managers all feathering their own nest. Poor parents and poor babies. 2 of the paediatricians had to apologise to her too on request or the management by all accounts. Shameful.
A sizeable proportion of NHS 'management' at every level are beyond inept yet they seem to escape scrutiny regarding the state of the NHS. I've no problem with blame being directed at our woeful Government because they deserve it and much more but the 'suits' in the NHS are equally culpable. I have never worked anywhere with as much nepotism, short sighted mixed up thought and all round incompetence as the NHS and I've not even mentioned the bullying, the secrecy, the waste and protecting their own. Thinking outside the box is frowned upon and the oft repeated mantra of 'we've always done it this way' is all too regular. The recruitment policy beggars belief and it's a case of just trying to get bums on seats so to speak and bugger what the new recruits are like. I echo many of the comments on here about these people being prosecuted but no doubt it'll the usual cover up and they'll close ranks.

What a heartbreaking story and my sympathy goes out to the parents and loved ones of the murdered little ones and as for that woman she can swing for all I care.

I find this all incredibly hard to get my head around. Maybe it's my morality filter, but I'm just struggling as to a why. Part of me keeps thinking can it all just be coincidence and she's not guilty, but again I think that is my, and most people's, primary instinct to look for reason.

How can someone function as a seemingly normal human being, laugh at telly, answer the dor with a smile, go to the shops and debate about what to have for tea that night, out for a few drinks on a night out, and also be doing this?

I guess more will come out, as there has to be a reason why she acted like this, something deep in the dark corners of her soul that enabled her to do it.

At least she has been stopped, and just maybe this will enable a change in policies that increases patient, and in particular newborn, care and support not just from a medical side but also administratively when in hospital.

When my eldest was born I nearly lost her and my wife. If it wasn't for the nurses and doctors then who knows. I was totally in their hands, but there is no doubt every single one of them was dedicated, tired, and ultimately a force for good.

I make you right.
They believe she may have killed 2 babies during her training period.
If so, it shows her intent from the very beginning.
