City believe Cesar Azpilicueta's impressive performances since displacing Cole at left-back have made Shaw wary of summer move to Stamford Bridge

Isn't Azpilicueta a right back though who has just been asked to play on the left cos Mourinho doesn't like Cole?

Mangala and shaw would cost at least 30m each. Also what happens if fernandinho or yaya get injured? We need quality cover for central midfield

We don't need a new 1st choice GK ffs. Hart is better than Valdes when he's not being a tit

... and why are Yaya are Fernandinho (who is Fernandinio?) on the wings?

youd seriously have valdez over hart. Even though hart recently has been one of the best keepers in the league. Hes younger and the england keeper. One of the only enlish players with real talent, nevermind the fact he is miles better than valdez.

There's no way we'd get rid of England's best goalkeeper to just have to get another no good English waste of space a la Sinclair in order to fill up the homegrowns. Like it or not, Joe is staying and Valdes is not coming.

This is correct.

We are struggling for homegrown players and people think we will replace England's number 1

Yep, swapping Hart for Valdes is a small and very short term upgrade anyway. Makes little sense. Simply not a priority by a long way

I read this week that Southampton owe in the region of £27m in transfer fees. There is probably only one club who could wipe that out in one payment. We really need to get this lad. He is going to be big.

Manchester United have agreed £85,000 a week deal for £27m Luke Shaw – report

Manchester United have agreed an £85,000 a week deal to bring Southampton‘s Luke Shaw to Old Trafford, pending contracts being signed, according to reports close to Southampton.

Reports of the wages come from both Andy Mitten and Red Issue and the £27 million fee was first reported back in January when the links between United and Shaw began to gather pace.

Securing Shaw before the World Cup would be the perfect way for Manchester United to start the summer transfer window and although £27 million is an astonishing fee for an 18-year-old, especially a left-back, it is more than a fair price given that Shaw could be our left back for over a decade.

Openly a Chelsea fan, Stamford Bridge was always considered the more likely destination for Shaw were he to leave Southampton but these fresh reports suggest otherwise.

Shaw would have his position in the first team guaranteed at United whereas he wouldn’t at Chelsea and that could have played into our hands.

Also, after years of splashing out without a second thought, Chelsea are having to reign in their free spending policy due to FFP rules.

Chelsea would not have sold Juan Mata if they didn’t absolutely have to, regardless of whether he was Jose Mourinho‘s first choice player. They needed the money to help balance the books.

Chelsea‘s prerogative this summer is at least one new striker and unless they decided to sell one of their biggest players once again to balance the spending again, they may not even be able to fund a bid for Shaw.

Shaw’s arrival would solve one of our problems but with a desperate need for central midfielders, it wouldn’t be the end of the spending in what is likely to be an unprecedented summer of transfers for Manchester United.

What do you think ?

I think if Danamy hadn't been telling us the same thing the use of the word 'our' to refer to the rags would have put me off.

An 18-year-old will earn more at United than Zabaleta does at City if that is true. Who is ruining football now?

Give it till Christmas and the Rag media will be telling us Shaw is another product of the Rags brilliant youth academy - that gave us Rooney, Young and Jones... et al.

is he really that good?
is he even that much better than evra?
At 18 Evra was (barely) playing as a striker for an Italian club called Monza in Serie B.

Put it this way, whoever signs Shaw at this stage of his career has the potential to ruin it.
