Lyon CL QF Post-Match Thread

When was the last time we win a game after conceding first? It almost feels inevitable. Yet I seem to remember this wasn’t the case in the previous 2 seasons

Spot on, once 1 down you can almost stop watching

Could have bottle it in the title game against Brighton if the equaliser didnt come quickly

Historically OL have produced some great footballers, now even after losing stars in the last few years (Lacazette, Umtiti, Fekir, Mendy etc) they continue to produce talents. To think Caqueret, Guimarães, Reine-Adélaïde, and Cherki have yet to really announce themselves to the world - stay tuned

I don't even believe buying Usain Bolt will rectify the type of goals we have conceded this season.

Kompany's pace had already gone and it was his sheer force of character and will to win that saw him and us through that 14-game title winning run-in.

The season beforehand, Stones and Otamendi were playing just as high and we dominated, yet came unstuck against the teams who can punish any shortcoming in Europe.

I firmly believe that good players can still be the wrong players.

Our constant inability to get close to making tackles in midfield and get back in, is leaving our defenders ever more exposed, due to Fernandinho being moved and ran into the ground.

Rodri and Gundo are a fundamental issue, they are never going to improve pace and teams are now just waiting for their chance to fly past them when the ball breaks down.

The elephant in the room is do we just tread water like this again until Pep decides if he is going to sign an extension at some point?

We can't move forward with real momentum again until the board know where they stand.

Or we sign someone like Messi!!

The elephant as you say is Pep.

We should be as a club ruthless, get rid now

He is using us as an experiment for his own views on football, fucking around with tactics, formations, players etc.

I see him as a danger to us as a club progressing further. I believe he has cost us Sane as a player and could do so with the likes of Bernardo and possibly Foden

Does anyone imagine if Kompany was around in his prime he would have stood for this. Not a chance.

11 games we have lost this season due in the main to pissing around.

I am angry and perhaps will calm down but he has cost us once again

Very sorry but any team with Fernandinio, Rodri & Garcia as our back middle 3 is asking for punishment, even an average team in France took the piss with 3 easy goals, more pace in my grandparents than those 3

We have conceded those all fucking season, Ederson just doesnt look like saving anything in those situations either its all amateur stuff

Why oh why was Garcia anywhere near that squad? Why the fuck did we even try playing like that just to trial it for the Bayern game???

Its a big let down & Pep & the team deserve all the shit thrown at them & us fans

Very sorry but I still don't feel confident with Rodri as HM

Unless Laporte & Koulabily link up & we sign an out & out LB who can defend better than the tripe we currently have then forget about winning the League back its not going to happen

We now have players like Bernardo, Stones who imo would have been a better choice last night wanting out.

Bernardo must be gutted

Another noticeable problem last night out & out striker where do we go with this, im sick of hearing Jesus put the hard yards in & defends well when he's paid to fucking score goals on a regular basis nothing more sure we need to sort it out

Aguero won't be back firing till October time at least, it takes him all pre season & a few Prem games to get going so where do we go??

We are fucked till CB, LB, CF are bought imo
There's more to it than filling those 3 positions I'm afraid. I think our problems run a little deeper. Pep has got to sort his tactics out at times, and players need to start performing. That's just for starters.

Anderlecht fans have given Vinnie dogs abuse this season - 'Kompany out' painted on the walls at the training ground. If he'd played say 15 games in the league for us this season, how many more points would we have gained ? Quite a few. And the issues with our defence probably wouldn't have led to a sudden reshaping of our team to cover for defensive inadequacies.

None of that's really relevant to what I was saying though. The poster I was replying to stated that Kompany left us in the shit all of a sudden, without warning and that he badly managed his exit after 10 years with us. He didn't do anything wrong.

I broke a record last night, most bottles of coronas drank in one night, got through quite a lot post 10pm.

Gonna take a long time to forget that game last night, still fuming

I know it’s not going to happen and unfortunately he will remain with us, but I firmly believe that Gundo needs shipping off for Pep’s own sake. Whilst he’s here, Pep will always have the temptation to play him and in my view he’s a symptom of everything that’s been wrong with our team this year. He’s a good player playing in the wrong side and the club needs to be ruthless.

Slow, passive and safe needs to be removed from this side for an injection of aggression and energy. Having a quality box to box midfielder next to Rodri to provide that industry that’s sorely missed would be massive.

He literally already said he made a mistake with the set up.
I think People want him call around to their gaff and say sorry in person. I mean, I've just read that he's a danger to the club!! Haha! Fuckinell.
