About a month or so ago, BBC Parliament screened one of those all party committee meetings with Madeleins father and another person whose name I forget, but he was the man in charge of the investigation.
The meeting itself was called by Parliament about the press, and listening to them explaining their case in calm and measured tones made some of the most thought provoking TV I have ever watched, frankly.
Some of you on here have made sweeping assumptions about what went on that night, and your opinions are based on what you have read in the papers and seen in other media.
As Madeleines father explained to the committee, the biggest hurdle they had to overcome was how the case was being reported, and how it made the task of trying to find their daughter so much more difficult.
If you can find a web site where you can watch them being interviewed, and it was on BBC Parliament for about two hours, then I suggest you watch it. The reality of what they were trying to achieve in the face of overwhelming prejudice against them in the media really does open your mind.
