Madeleine McCann

Do you think they don't ask themselves the same question?

Can any of us even imagine what they have gone through?
None of us can, because none of us know what actually happened. At best, they are guilty of abandoning their three children for a night out with friends. At worst, they know more than they're telling.
One thing that always plays on my mind about this case is, why did Mrs. McCann wash her daughter's favourite cuddly toy? She's an intelligent person, surely she realised that substances found on that toy could have proved to be vital evidence? And wouldn't she want to preserve any scent of her daughter that the toy had on it?

Good point mate. I lost my dog recently and I've kept his blanket as it smells of him. Sentimental things like this are very close to your heart and show that you care and miss the person. This is very weird. I do believe the parents are not guilty as they would have been found out long ago imo.

Depends if they are guilty or not doesn't it!

Do you really believe they had anything to do with their daughter's disappearance?

Not in a million years.

Plenty of people who knew Harold Shipman couldn't believe he was guilty of anything when first arrested. But eventually it came out that a seemingly likeable doctor was the most prolific serial killer in British history.

Unless you know the McCanns personally and can account for their movements on the evening their daughter disappeared then like the rest of us you've no idea whether or not they had anything to do with it.

although I'm guessing we'll never find out the true depth of the McCann's involvement in all this.

Care to elaborate....be very careful.

Why be careful? The Times elaborated this scenario a while ago. The night before, Kate McCann admiited to police that Maddie had woken up upset and crying and they had discovered her. She asked her parents not to leave her again. Therefore the supposition was that they sedated the three kids so they wouldn't wake but that Maddie died because of this and they disposed of the body then concocted a tale of her abduction.

Once the initlal fuss died down, the police suspicions were aroused and they declared the mother an arguido (suspect). At that point she clammed up and refused to answer any more questions.

Some of the evidence to support this scenario included:
The friend who had supposedly last gone back to the villa to check had just gone in but admitted he had not actually checked the room the kids were in, suggesting he knew they should be sound asleep.

When she allegedly discovered Maddie had gone, the mother apparently didn't raise the alarm straight away but went back to the restaurant leaving the twins alone again. If you thought your child had been abducted there is NO WAY you would do this.

The others came back to search the apartment but the twins never woke up despite the noise and fuss.

A large sports bag belonging to the father (supposedly large enough to carry a small child) was allegedly missing from the apartment. Gerry McCann denied owning such a bag but witnesses are supposed to have seen him carrying it to tennis lessons he was having.

Police dogs supposedly detected the scent of a dead body in the apartment and on the mother's clothes, as well as in the boot of the hire car.

Despite it being early evening in a busy resort, the only eye-witness was one of their own friends, who reported seeing a man carrying a child.

The McCanns originally claimed that they arrived at the restaurant first at 8:30pm. But other witness statements had them arriving at 9pm. Their friend checked the apartment (but not the kids themselves) at 9:30 and she was then discovered missing at 10pm. So there is a "missing" half hour.

Of course only they know what really happened and however it went down they have to live with it.

I've just returned from holdiay in Majorca, and what amazes me is the number of kids that were pretty much left to their own devices, parents not giving a toss where they are, even in the light of the Madeleine McCann episode.

During our stay, there was one 7 year old whos parents had left her at a "mini disco" whilst they went drinking in a hotel ACROSS THE ROAD . Plus another child aged 6, who came and sat next to us whilst we were fishing for at least 20 minutes before announcing that she couldnt swim (had no armbands on and was leaning over the ledge into the sea) and that she hadnt told her mum and her partner that she had left the hotel grounds

Some people simply dont deserve to have kids

Ah but if there parents were doctors there are loons on here who'd think that behaviour ok.

I have to say, I wouldn't leave my kid alone if I had one. But to beat the parents with a stick about it is harsh. It shouldn't be that if you leave your child alone for an hour in a private room they get kidnapped.

Maddy McCann, every attention seeking, "Look at me, I'm angrier, more caring and more moral than you", tabloid seether's second favourite story.

Second only to Baby P.

The ability to express dismay or regret about an event in rational terms has all but disapeared in a lot of parts of society.

It has been replaced by a national cock waving exercise where various fuckwits compete to shout the loudest about how they would never do something that the person/people in question have done and what sort of violence they would like to inflict on them or what sort of punishment they have got coming to them.

You are obviously not a parent.

You'll learn when you've grown up.
im not a parent, and dont know if you are, but would you leave your 3 year old child alone in another country while you went for a meal? i know for a fact that it wouldnt even cross my mind to do that

I agree Connor

the thing is. you should be able to leave your kids without them being taken. but in todays world there is some real sick people out there. but how could the person who took them have anticipated that they would be out. this is why i am suspicious.

What are everyones views on this ?

Obviously it was terrible ! Theres countless conspiracy theories on the whole issue though. It seems really strange that despite being nabbed from a public holiday resort NOBODY managed to witness what exactly happened.

Unfortunately I think she probably isn't alive today.

Would be absolutely wonderful though if one day she was found.

Does anyone actually believe in the conspiracy theories !?

She's dead mate. Furthermore, she died before she "disappeared". No one witnessed her abduction because it didn't happen.
You may well be right mate. Something just isn't right with it all. If they did kill her accidentely how have they disposed of the body with nobody seeing it though ?

Theres lots of stories and views on this, Maybe she is dead. I like to think she was taken by someone who has given her to a family that couldnt have childen and she will be cared and looked after !!!

Sadly I don't think we will see a reunion with Maddy and her family, she will more than likely be dead. I don't for one minute believe any conspiracy theory, all that happened here was a massive misjudgement by her parents by believing their kids would be safe whilst they ate. What pisses me off is the fact that if 19 year old, benefit claiming Melanie from the Miners Estate had done what the McCanns did, she would have got no help by the press whatsoever. The fact the McCanns were 2 middle classed, well educated people in highy paid jobs went well in their favour, and whilst I wished everyday for her safe return, the coverage they got and the lack of blame was pretty diabolical to be honest. A definite case of one rule for one, one rule for another.
