We where lucky enough to visit two fantastic developments in Manchester last week:

Salboy - Waterhouse Gardens

Designed by Architect Studio Power, Waterhouse Gardens is just off Dutton Street in Manchester on the old Boddingtons Brewery site.

Named in homage to Victorian architect Alfred Waterhouse, Waterhouse Gardens will provide 556 fully-funded city centre homes and 31,000 sq ft of commercial and retail space across five buildings.

It looks like Domis Construction are doing a great job of bringing the project to life and its going to be a great addition to Manchesters skyline.

Renaker - One Port Street

One Port Street in Manchesters vibrant Northern Quarter is a purpose-built development within Select Property’s Prestige Collection.

The development pushes the boundaries of resident experience like never before. With first-class amenities including a 2,000 sq ft. swimming pool, seventh floor club lounge and a grand lobby with a 360° fireplace, One Port Street doesn’t just tick the boxes, it defines new ones.

NOMA - Linkedin

Since 1782, NOMA has been part of Manchester’s rich history, and its growth is far from over.

In this new phase of evolution, we’re transforming the area to create a vibrant neighbourhood where people and businesses thrive and communities come together, helping Manchester’s reputation as a leading city to grow.

We are excited to be taking the first step towards the conversion of the landmark Grade II listed New Century House in the heart of NOMA into a luxury 196 bed hotel.

It’s a pleasure to be working with specialist hotel and hospitality consultancy Jenics to select a hotel partner to take the project forward into planning.

Dan Hyde, Development Director at MEPC Limited, developer and asset manager at NOMA said:

"New Century House is a Manchester landmark and we believe now is the right time to bring it back to life as a hotel. It's a natural next step for our growing neighbourhood with the building located either side of BNY at 4 Angel Square and the destination venue of New Century Hall.”

Jeremy Collins of Jenics added: "Manchester has huge international visitor pull thanks to its global connectivity, world-leading universities and sporting and cultural assets. New Century House is a rare and outstanding opportunity and will be a tremendous addition to Manchester's visitor economy offer, both from a business and leisure perspective.

Coming in at 44 storeys, the proposals for 2-4 Whitworth Street West would see the creation of 364 homes near Deansgate rail and tram stations.

A public consultation has begun for developer Glenbrook’s proposals, which would see the demolition of the two vacant buildings currently sitting on the site.

How much? You could buy the whole of Longsight (my old stomping ground) for that!

And to think, my Mum bought her council house in Burnage, which is currently my house, in 1984, 40 years ago, for £24,000. Mad isn't it.
