Plans for a new 154-apartments scheme in North Manchester have been unveiled.

The 25-storey tower will help to kick-start the regeneration of the neighbourhood, including vibrant ground-floor commercial spaces for the underutilised site at the junction of Cheetham Hill Road and Park Place.

Look at Oast House, as one example:



A new-ish building that isn’t just a glass and fibreglass(?) panelled cuboid. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a neighbourhood or district in Town of low level buildings that looked like this at various sizes and shapes, hosting shops, homes, cafes, bars, offices etc.? Something a bit different and unique to Manchester that brings a bit of a different cultural look to the place?

They don’t even have to look like that specifically, it could be something else. Just something other than this sort of thing:



Which isn’t unpleasant by any stretch. Just that, architecturally, could be in China, Australia, USA, Rotterdam, Monaco, Napoli or Rome… anywhere. It’s what could possibly be described as ‘21st Century Worldwide Bland’?

In 2020, Denton Corker Marshall joined the Cortland at Colliers yard Design Team at RIBA Stage 3 of the project, being appointed as Executive Architect and Lead Consultant. Despite the challenges posed by Covid-19, our team worked tirelessly to document and deliver the construction packages for the scheme.

Cortland at Colliers Yard is a mixed-use development located in the new and vibrant Greengate area of Salford, which borders Manchester City Centre. The Cortland development consists of a 50-storey residential tower above a four-storey podium that incorporates resident’s amenity areas, co-working zones and retail units with extensive food and beverage outlets.

Fast forward to September 2023 and we are pleased to announce that Cortland at Colliers Yard has recently reached completion. We are excited to see residents moving in and are confident that they will settle quickly into their new living accommodation and enjoy the fabulous amenity spaces.

We would like to extend our congratulations to everyone involved in the project.

Regent Plaza update. Crane going up! :-)

Our Regent Plaza development in Manchester is making great progress. Block C internals are moving ahead at speed, with Level 7 internal walls and ceilings now complete and ready for plastering. Bathroom tiling on Levels 7 to 4 is finished, and work is ongoing on the lower levels. Staircases have been installed in the townhouses. Block D crane base piling is now complete and fully tested, with the crane base construction underway. The Slipform Rig assembly is also complete, and it will begin sliding this week to allow for the trailing deck installation.

We were delighted to join our client, Scarborough Group for the topping-out ceremony at Railings where 189 new residential apartments and townhouses are being built and are available for sale.

Over 50 special guests gathered including Deputy Ceremonial Mayor of Salford and ward councillor for Ordsall, Tanya Burch, and the Chinese Consul General, Rui Tang. Senior representatives from SGI’s joint venture partners Metro, who flew in from Singapore for the event, Salford City Council, Homes England and the delivery team were there along with our BCEGI's senior team led by our Lead Director, Dongwen Yu.

Identified as a key strategic development opportunity more than twenty years ago, the 25-acre brownfield site where Middlewood Locks now stands has already been transformed into a thriving new mixed-use neighbourhood, directly connecting Salford to Manchester city centre.

A very big thank you to the entire project team for helping us achieve this important milestone.
