Manchester’s Changing Skyline

Interesting read.

Ian Simpson rules out a 300 metre residential tower being built in Manchester in his lifetime.

The Subplot - Place North West.

HOW FAR CAN THE TRANSFORMATION OF MANCHESTER’S SKYLINE GO

“It won’t happen in my lifetime,” says Ian Simpson, one half of SimpsonHaugh Architects, which has designed seven of the eight tallest buildings currently standing in Greater Manchester – including six for Renaker.

Deloitte partner John Cooper, another of Renaker’s trusted partners, believes the current project might be pushing the limit of what is achievable.

“We won’t go much taller than 70 storeys in my career,” he says.

The chief culprit for lack of supertall ambition in Manchester is profitability. It simply doesn’t stack up.

Looking forward to this. Might be a good stop off before and after a match at the Etihad?

Business Desk North West

A 5,000-capacity entertainment destination is set to open in Manchester later this year.

DieCast is located between Store Street and Ducie Street and is the latest concept from the team behind Ramona and the Firehouse.

It is located in Manchester’s largest city centre factory, of more than 250,000 sq ft

When finished, DieCast’s Creative Neighbourhood will be home to a night market, Brewing Co., Warehouse Restaurant, and Festival Stage, as well as Manchester’s biggest beer garden and a creative hub.

Having first announced plans for the venue in 2019, Allied London has now submitted a planning application for the 30,000 sq ft food hall project.

Is it this building?

Not sure what you could build on that 0.02 acres of land.

At least it’s opposite the Etihad.

One for you Worsleyweb. ;-)

Plot of Land approximately 0.02 Acres

Guide | £22,500 (plus fees)

Freehold plot of land extending to approximately 0.02 acres which originally formed part of a row of shops which have now been demolished apart from the Maine Road Chippy (not included in the sale). Situated fronting Ashton New Road, directly opposite the Etihad Stadium (Manchester City FC) and Campus. The surrounding area has been subject to considerable redevelopment in recent years. Any interested parties are advised to consult with Manchester City Council with regard to their intended use.

Can this be where all of the United and Liverpool supporters stand before and after matches at the Etihad?

One Heritage tower - Residential - 55 stories - Greengate - Salford

Doesn’t look like One Hertiage tower will be starting any time soon. The next 3 developments to start in the One Heritage property development pipeline are Victoria Road, Seaton House and Churchgate. TBH I don’t see the One Heritage tower ever being built, sadly.

One Heritage continues to experience industry-wide challenges such as mounting cost pressures in respect of building materials and also sub-contractor labour shortages. Further to the announcement of an impairment of two of its development projects Bank Street, Sheffield and St Petersgate, Stockport, published in the results for the full year ending 30 June 2022, it is anticipated there will be an increase in the value of impairment for both and a further development, Oscar House, Manchester, is likely to be impaired. The delays across the portfolio resulting in increased debt costs and construction related cost increases have been the prominent factors in these impairments and are expected to be in the region £0.75m-£1.25m. Further details will be provided in the published interim results for the six months to 31 December 2022, in March 2023.

Mr Martin Crews has tendered his resignation as Development Director from the Group and is expected to leave the business in March 2023. Mr Crews was hired in September 2020 and led the team responsible for the delivery of the Group’s development projects.

The Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Paul Westhead as Interim Development Director to oversee the delivery of the Group’s Development Projects

Walked around town first time in ages looks impressive, however the City has a huge problem, Don't blame the council for the disgusting state of litter and detritus, i don't drop litter, the City has a huge number of cave people which does not bode well.
