what i dont get is why now - would our owners really make such an approach and run the risk of this being made public so close to the cup final

Bollocks for me

I honestly just want to keep Mancini because I think he has done a good job in 3 1/2 seasons here. If he were to be replaced, I would only want it to be with a truly world class manager. For me Pellegrini is a bit of a risk. Would like to keep the stability but who knows, maybe Pellegrini will turn out to be success. Oh, and please, stop dividing ourselves into inners and outers, we both want what is best for MCFC (at least I hope so).
Very amiable. Well done that man.

Hallelujah! Praise the man for these wise words. Can't agree more with you mate.

It's absolutely crucial going forward that we have stability. just look at Chelsea. They have had some of the biggest names manage them since Mourinho left and chopping n' changing every season has been the key reason they haven't been doing as well as they should. The situation at that club is a shambles and we don't want it anywhere near our club.

Is Pellegrini really an upgrade on Mancini? I don't think he is, and to be honest, I don't care either way. Roberto has done a great job over the last 3 and a half years, sometimes under some very testing circumstances. But he has never let us down. Now it's time we show a bit of loyalty to the man who delivered arguably the greatest season in this clubs history.

Replace him and it's back to square one again. Surely the owner and his reps see this?

Instead of asking if Pellegrini is better than Mancini you should be asking if he's better than no manager at all. And when you talk about loyalty, you should be asking whether someone who signs a 5 year contract then announces he has no intention of seeing it through is showing any loyalty.

I count about 3 assumptions but i'll happily go along with the first 5 words of your post. ;-)

Heynckes too old? Third successive year in a CL final with Bayern. Granted the first year wasn't exactly all his doing. However, this time round it's all credit to him and the way he can motivate a group of multi millionaires. He's won the league by a huge margin, is in the DFB cup final and to top the lot, is in the CL final and his team scoring 7 without reply, against apparently the best footballing side in the world. I respect your opinion, however, have another think.

I don't believe I posted anything that said he isn't a top manager - in fact the reason I mentioned him at all was because he's up in the very highest echelons of management. If he came here though there are no guarantees that he would be an instant success. At 67 I do indeed think he's too old - if we are about to build a dynasty then I would much rather it be with somebody who's going to be here long term than somebody who may come in for 1-2 seasons. So thanks for respecting my opinion, however, I've had another think and will stick to what I originally posted ta.

The reason I picked up on your comment, is because Heynckes would be my only choice as a replacement for Mancini. You said it would have to be someone that, would come in and gain instant respect from the players (or along them lines). This bloke would certainly do that. He's proved that at Bayern, where he only signed a 2 year contract and has been very successful during that time. Offer him an initial 3 year contract and we have CL finals to look forward to. Get a younger bloke like Klopp, and you can't say that. He's really good, but has no experience with multi millionaire super stars. AVB and Chelsea?! Exactly my point.
