Manchester City v Celtic post match thread

Top class strikers miss one on ones and great chances every week.

On this occasion, it was a fantastic save from Ortega. It's the timing and positioning that comes into it not just the outstretching of a leg.
They do I agree but it was a terrible effort and not some wonder save for me.

Just seen that this was Celtic's 4th pre-season game and they start their season next Saturday. Not a bad effort considering.
Just looked on their forum and they're treating this as a scalp lol. Saying our kids still cost more than their starting eleven, twats!

Yeah and he will have a 99% strike rate against us in 1 v 1s. He probably hadn't missed against us before, The media seem to conveniently forget we won the game 0-2.
But that goal would have changed the trajectory of the match. Regardless fuck em. Arsenal had like 4 extra extra time victory pullouts.

So I don't give a rats ass Son missed. That's football. :)

Stadium half empty, how the fuck is anyone making any money out of this ?
I was really pleased to see so many empty seats. Serves them right. The ticket prices were ridiculous for a reserve pre-season friendly. I hope it’s the same for the rest of the games.

They looked well organized in the highlights. Lots of their goals were very well developed. And that RW dude was a problem it seemed.

Second half was a major improvement from the first and it all stemmed from Ederson with help from Doyle.

Anybody still thinking Ortega is a number 1 replacement for Ederson just needs to watch that, i think Ortega is an incredible number 2 it'a no criticism of him but it was night and day. Those "rodri is the system" quotes thrown social media of late around are wrong, it's Ederson.

From that showing alone, of all the kids not involved with the 1st team last season, Callum Doyle looks like the only one who could be of any genuine use to the first team next season. Calm, assured and seemed like he knew what he needed to do and crucially where to be at all times. Nobody else looked anywhere near capable, and that's not a dig at them, they're kids learning, you wouldn't expect many, if any to look like they can slot into the best squad in world football.

Weird that bobb and Rico played the full 90, that's basically unheard of for a first pre-season game. Cannot understand the reasoning behind that.
I’d guess Bobb & Lewis played the full stint because we’ll need them fully firing in the opening weeks. Foden, Walker, Rodri etc are unlikely to be ready in around 4 weeks.
