Manchester Students Union

What they're trying to do is to increase the number of supporters of the club. This sort of thing is ideal - students will go on to earn higher wages after they graduate; some students are from cities other than Manchester, so we get supporters from outside our area. I don't see what the problem is.

im not stupid pal,i know that

does it make it right though ?

the extra problem with all these student tickets,is that they end up being bought for non students, where i work in ashton, they're passed around for a tenner via local colleges ( through contacts ) that get cheap tickets from city just to try and fill the fucking stadium.

no one ever appears to check they have student cards when going into the ground, even if they did its so easy to show someone elses student card

fucking joke

i bit the bullet today and relented, went and bought the 50 quid for 3 games even though i can only attend the first two games, had to book a day off to go to the 2nd game.

me dad took me in his car from ashton.whilst there i begged him to come just to the the juve game next week, even offered to pay for him (twenty quid ) for a consession 70 year old,he said no cos 20 notes is a piss take for a pensioner,

so a life long supporter wont be there but some **** with nowt to do with us or someone who just wants a cheap night out will be.

fucking wrong full stop city

The problem is that Citys core traditional support is made up of Working class Mancunians, who tend to have a problem paying £30/40 for a game. Although many still make it to games they often put their families under financial strain in doing so.
I for one would rather see tickets sold cheaply at community centres, schools, or to Pensioners.

As the guy who wrote "football for life" stated. make the tickets prices affordable and there would be 70000 people wanting to watch City on a regular basis.

its an out right joke end of, city fans on low wages cant afford £50 for chelsea and will have to resort to watching it on tv where as some students who on the whole if they are into football willalready support a team and will be going chelsea game for £20 with no intention of ever supporting city long term , why would they when they have supported who ever they do all their life its a joke city and city risk alienating a lot of fans , i said this last season and i got hammered for it but i really am getting hacked of with these stupid ticket prices its not on

Disgusting to be honest.

I'm all for promoting us to a new audience, but giving the opportunity to buy heavily discounted tickets to a group of people with no connection to the club whilst our own fans are not offered the same deal is not fair, or ETHICAL.

Why not just charge a lower price for games where there isn't the demand, such as the euro ties, and maybe give the students a voucher to use in the store at the ground for a cheap shirt...then we would all have the chance to benefit from a cheaper ticket for a game where the stadium will be fairly empty and the students will feel like they are still getting a good deal.

Agree 100%

i'm even more angry after last nights result

anyway, next thursday, some prick from anywhere in the uk will be at the juve game for a tenner, while my old fella will be at home listening to the radio cos he has principles and wont pay 20 quid, life long blue brought several generations into the blue fold, its a fucking scandalous joke

Sympathise with your grandads situation. Why not be like Blue Smarties and adopt the "if you can't beat 'em join 'em brigade" and buy him a student ticket?

he has principles thats why mate, its my dad not grandad,i offered to buy him is 20 pound ticket even though im a low income earner, after i told him about the students ticket price,he said stick their 20 quid consession up their arse.

he knows from last season about these students "givaway " ticket prices, prime one being stoke in the fa cup last year for a fiver.

but,a lot are happier to see a bum on a seat regardless if its right

Not on, anyway...................any students want to get me a Newcastle ticket and ill meet them before the Chelsea game on Saturday?

If City can afford to sell £10 tickets to students why do they need to charge season ticket holders £3 to watch the reserves?

I doubt if the total profit from all reserve games gate receipts would pay more than a few hours wages for one of the first team players so what's the point?
