Manchester Students Union

the thing that winds me up about it is how it has been publicly advertised by the club, most student unions offer discount tickets to football, last year i went with my mates at sheffield to watch sheff wednesday and even at lancaster i got a discount ticket for morecambe, i accept that thats gonna go on in su's, but the fact that i get home from paying 20 quid for a juve ticket, turn on facebook and see a dock off advert for tickets for a tenner, that winds me up

Jesus there is some moaning on here today (wish i'd gone to work). I know City are a traditional working class club but we (just like the rest of society) have to move on. The new owner has put his money where his mouth is - but the club has to move on and sustain itself - I think its legit to sell tickets to other sources a few days before the game if regular supporters don't want them. At the end of the day MCFC is now a multi million/billion dollar business and anyone expecting seat prices based of sentiment or charity are fooling themselves - it won't happen here or at any premier league club. I personally thought the £50 3 game deal was good.

Sympathise with your grandads situation. Why not be like Blue Smarties and adopt the "if you can't beat 'em join 'em brigade" and buy him a student ticket?

he has principles thats why mate, its my dad not grandad,i offered to buy him is 20 pound ticket even though im a low income earner, after i told him about the students ticket price,he said stick their 20 quid consession up their arse.

he knows from last season about these students "givaway " ticket prices, prime one being stoke in the fa cup last year for a fiver.

but,a lot are happier to see a bum on a seat regardless if its right
The fact is your dad could get one of these £10 tickets by going to the SU.

You say your dad has principles, but it just sounds like he's being needlessly stubborn.

No he couldn't mate, Im not speaking for the other guy but I popped down earlier and they wanted to see a Student ID and take your details.

Maybe the other lad got lucky but they are not just handing out the tickets to anyone.

think what you want pal,he'd rather die anyway then get one and be refused entry as a non student, would'nt do it though even if he could get away with it,like i said,he has principles,he dosen't want to screw the club he loves off, unlike them with him !

When I was at university in the 70s a cheap student ticket for a football match would have seemed ridiculous.

Football was cheap for everyone and even on my miserable student income I could afford to pay the adult rate to see City.

Something's gone wrong somewhere along the line.

What a load of tosh.

Move on? In what way?

Move on from the people who have supported and sustained the club for decades?

Move on from treating fans fairly and on to going all out to replace them with any old gloryhunter as long as we think they will have more disposable income.

I think you might have heard one too many talking head churning out business speak and mistakenly come to the conclusion that spouting meaningless cliches is the mark of success, ambition and knowledge.

Move on? FFS. There are many areas where 'moving on' might be a valid ambition and the right thing to do for the club.

Pricing out long suffering fans and slapping them in the face at the same time by doing all you can to woo their replacements because they might not be 'working class' in the future is not one of them.

Have a word with yourself. And try to make it not a cliched one.

Unless they happen to be students looking to use the club for a cheap way to watch a massive Premier League match, eh?

Mind you, at least, in your incorrect view, there is a small chance that they might become City fans in the future (at the age of 18-21, I doubt it) and not be the type of unwanted low spending working class they we should be looking to 'move on' from.

FFS...This is nothing new!!!
Tickets have been sold this way for years!
What about them giving tickets away to squaddies or to local community groups or friends of friends of the club??
Kids and OAPs an all!!
Most maoning on here are probably under 21 and get a reduction anyway..you don't hear those over 21 moaning about it do you???
Is there going to be a moaning thread about these too now?

Tut.

i'm 45 pal,if what i'm saying is "moaning " then fair enough i'm a moaner, personally,i'm just stating my fucking opinion which is ,a 70 year old man who's supported city all his life shouldn't have to pay 20 quid to watch v juve as opposed to 10 quid for a student,at 18-21 they've made their mind up already who they support.
giving away to oaps ? not in this instance though hey ? pal ?

tut tut
