Firstly, the initial leak does not come out if City, they are playing catch-up in the team hotel on the morning of a Cup Final.
While much of what you've said is fine, this is where I don't understand it, because the word was all over the net by 8pm (ish) on Friday evening. This was well before it hit the media big time, now I don't know if City were aware of it, but they certainly should have been, because social media at City is supposedly taken very seriously, and it was from here that the news came about a couple of big punts on Pellegrini that had shortened his odds at a couple of bookies. I'm sure someone monitors social media, or had we taken our eye off the ball because it was the night before the cup final ? I'm sure it could have been better contained at this point, but hindsight is as always a wonderful thing.

I thought De Boer would be the first choice... young, talented, Barca boy and wants to be here.
Still wouldn't surprise me.

Wouldn't be a kick in the balls would it.

One thing's for sure. After six months of moral outrage at the notion that alternatives to Mancini should be discussed - I think we're on safe territory from here on forwards chatting about the relative merits of De Boer v Pellegrini etc.

Cards on table: de Boer would be my choice ahead of all but Klopp and Mou but neither of those are happening.

Re: Mancini Breaking News Part 4

I am a little astonished City haven't released anything yet, he is obviously - but unfortunately - going as we would have rubbished rumours.

I just find this immensely unfair on Roberto going into tomorrow's game being asked questions pre and post march that the club haven't given definitive answers to.

What's the hold up?

What an absolute load of bollocks.

If Vicky Kloss' job is "Director of communication" then she is responsible for the clubs dealings with the press. It is her direct responsibility to manage the press and what is written about us, in the best interests of the club.

It was without doubt in the best interests of the club for these reports of Mancini's sacking to be squashed before the cup final, to allow everyone to focus fully on the job at hand - winning the trophy.

She decided to remain silent, and has left the manager as a dead man walking. It has had a huge affect on the mood of Mancini himself, his staff, the players, and the fans.

Even if she know he's getting sacked, it would have been very easy to come out with a press release on the morning of the game saying "Roberto Mancini remains the manager of Manchester City, and reports that he has been sacked are entirely false. Roberto and the club are completely focused on winning our 3rd major trophy under his stewardship." No lying there.

Slergie told the pres last week he "Wouldn't be walking away in the forseeable future" only to announce his retirement 3 days later. The press haven't mentioned it, because who gives a fuck. He did what was best for the club - keeping them focused on winning football matches. Fuck it if the press feel aggrieved.

And regards to it being "all a bit rushed, they didn't have time on cup final morning" well I'm afraid that's the nature of PR in 2013. With 24 hour news and social media, you have to react on a minute by minute basis now. I knew about these reports the night before the game, and even started a thread saying they should come out first thing in the morning with a press release. Fuck all happened and the rest is history.

She's come from working for the police, got the job at City under an old regime, "because no one else was doing it". She's completely out of her depth. The way the press report about this club is appalling, and she's responsible for managing that. We need someone with experience of working for a big multinational, she's not good enough.

I don't need any instruction on it thanks!

In fact, the only bollocks seems to be from you.

You clearly know nothing about Vicky Kloss that's for sure.

You make her sound like a bobby pounding the beat!

She is more than qualified and like I state, she is not a press officer.

She is responsible for corporate communications and has been fast-tracked up the ladder by Abu Dhabi, as a result of her work.

Kloss is not the go to person these days for the press.
What bollocks am I talking? I know she is not the press officer. I assume the press officer reports to her, so she is still ultimately responsible. Mancini seems to think she had the authority to come out and defend him, but seemingly you know better than him? Strange. Maybe you can find an 80s pop Youtube video to explain how that works?

I think perhaps you do need instruction on how PR works in 2013. To suggest there "wasn't time because they were all hurrying round in the team hotel on the morning of the Cup Final" shows a staggering naivety of the modern digital media world.

It would have taken seconds to do a 2 line backing of Mancini on the clubs official Twitter / website. That would then be reported as news on SSN, all the sports radio, online papers, social media etc within minutes. Dramatically altering the mood of fans, players and staff.

Even if Mancini is getting sacked, which seems certain, the fact the club didn't come out back the manager on Saturday was a monumental mistake.

So, as opposed to bragging how ITK you are, or how great Vicky Kloss is, actually address the points I've made if you think they are bollocks.

I will field that. Just because there are tools to respond quickly, it doesn't change the appropriateness of responding immediately. Saying anything would have only opened the doors to have to say more or to set the club up to lie or look like a joke organization later. Mancini didn't screw up preparation for the FA Cup final because of this rumour coverage. But if he did, then it further emphasizes why he shouldn't be our manager.

I don't get you, what they need to say in that case on Saturday?

There is nothing that the club could have safely said, one way or another. If they back him in a statement, then they are revealed as liars a week or less later. If they say he's to be sacked, they've thrown a thunderbolt into the locker room just before the final.

Since "Shaelumstash" is such a PR guru, you would think he would have already figured this out...

I was under the impression it had leaked from the Spanish media. Not a lot city could do about that.

Wonder if we're still pursuing Cavani. Does Pellegrini want to spend that kind of cash on him? Or is it solely Txiki who runs the show now?
@MirrorFootball: Double draw: City believe Isco and Cavani will join Pellegrini in Manchester http://t.co/45X3Iv0NRG #transfers

Guess we are.

Huge disrespect being shown to Mancini by Barca duo. Mancini whether you want him gone or not is a City legend. These clowns have it all to do.
