It's as if yesterday that Bobby hadn't a clue what his situation at the club was. He knew well that things were happening behind his back though, you could sense it in his interview on ESPN.

Surely there should be a rule brought in by the FA regarding managerial replacements? These people are human beings at the end of the day.

On another note, Imagine Kidd or Platt got the job ...

Hahaha! Are you serious? Regulate managerial appointments ?

Absolutely PATHETIC.

And they are human beings? Sorry is mancini going to be lined up and shot now is he? No he's going to take a MASSIVE pay out wouldn't ever have to work again for the rest of his life and will have plenty of clubs wanting him to go to them. You really make me laugh and by that i do not mean i find you in any way amusing i'm laughing at you.

Why are you laughing at him? If this is true it is disgraceful and disgusting. Mancini might be getting a big pay out but he is a human being, he has feelings and he is a successful manager. If you were doing a great job and suddenly it was announced to the people around you that you had been sacked and no one had told you you would be devastated. Roberto Mancini has done a great job for us and the world and his brother has been speculating about him being sacked.

There is such a thing as decent humanity and this sacking, if it has indeed happened, is not decent nor humane.

And I support Manchester City and our present manager before I get the whinging 'You should support the club not the man'. Why can't I support both?

Thank you! Yes, this is a waste of a comment but appreciation to fellow fans must be shown!

Apparently Sheik Mansour decided to sack him months ago and it's all do do with the CL.
He was set a minimum requirement of getting to the quarter finals.
Pellegrini has been chosen for his excellent CL record with unfashionable clubs(Villareal and Malaga). Got Villareal to the semi's and Malaga to the quarter finals(minutes from knocking Dortmund out)

My problem with this is he might well do something like this next season but we won´t qualify for the following seasons CL
The PL MUST come first - the CL will take care of itself once we do that. Eventually we´ll get a decent group draw

Only this il miss Mancini but no one is bigger than the club. People missed Sven we moved on people missed hughes (somehow) we moved on. People will miss Mancini if he goes, there's a pattern forming

I still miss Joe Royle.

There are only 2 managers of City I don't miss - Alan Ball and Frank Clark - both were rank from day one.
Clark had a good start got us up the league and had us all optimistic of a promotion challenge the next season

Duncan Castles has just tweeted:

Am told by a senior City source that Roberto Mancini has not been sacked today.

Could there be a possibility that Mancini has resigned?

Doubt that, he wouldn't be entitled to severance then would he? Doubt he'd pass up millions of squid if that is the case.

If rumours are to be believed then he's threatened to resign more than once and now City have decided to act. I think he'll be asked to leave and given a severance payment.

Whether he ends up at the club or not, I think it's in rather poor taste for people to be belittling Pellegrini's achievements.

He has done extremely well under some very undesirable circumstances. He has taken teams into the quarter finals of the Champions League who wouldn't normally stand a chance, he's always finished strongly in the league and to get 96 points with Real Madrid and not win La Liga is incredibly unfortunate.

I'm not saying he's going to lead us into a new era of club success or anything drastic. I'm just saying he's clearly a very competent manager and deserves the respect that comes with that.

Maybe so

But in the context of this discussion his record and that of Mancini are relevant.........

Pellegrini:

Universidad Católica Copa Interamericana : 1994
Copa Chile : 1995
LDU Quito Serie A : 1998–99
San Lorenzo Primera División : 2000–01
Copa Mercosur : 2001
River Plate Primera División : 2002–03
Villarreal UEFA Intertoto Cup : 2004

Mancini:

Fiorentina Coppa Italia : 2000–01
Lazio Coppa Italia : 2003–04
Internazionale Serie A : 2005–06
Internazionale Serie A : 2006–07
Internazionale Serie A : 2007–08
Coppa Italia : 2004–05
Coppa Italia : 2005–06
Supercoppa Italiana: 2005
Coppa Italia : 2006
Premier League : 2011–12
FA Cup : 2010–11
FA Community Shield: 2012

And Bobby is eleven years younger and hasn't finished yet.....

This doesn't really feel like an upgrade so far does it?

I have to agree
It is a massive gamble as much as I think Bob has lost it this is not the right replacement. Would be better another year than this guy imo but hey-ho

Bobby has done nothing at city or inter in his champs league qualification hisrecord is very very poor as much as I like him this is where are owners want to go they want to the be best Pelli and Malaga may have been in the semi finals if not for a offside goal against Dortmund that's with selling some of his best players because of financial problems you put carzola in the team that lost who had to be sold they may even be in the final this is where I back the staff to make the right decision for mcfc our club

He should still be manager now. Just imagine how good we'd be with all that stability.
