Roberto has quite often got things wrong tactically,so has Ferguson and even he gets stick off his clubs fans at times.
There is nothing wrong with discussing a managers perceived failings. What sometimes appears to happen here with Roberto though,is his failings are highlighted far more than his successes by the people who don't rate him.
Comparing his credentials to Ferguson,Mourinho etc when these guys have flaws all of their own, some of the anti Mancini posters sometimes overlook these flaws in their haste to mock or criticize
Its a shame because this thread has thrown up some great posts by people
On both sides.

I understand your perspective and appreciate that you have an open mind. For me, it's not about 'failings' or 'successes' but rather his comportment as manager, and his relationships with his players and others in the organization. He's achieved some great things, and been well-compensated for that, but the real issue is whether or not we will progress as a squad and a club with him going forward. But that is just my opinion, nothing more.

I will give Bobby praise and criticism as I see fit to do so.

For as long as he is City manager, he will have good games and bad ones. He will do things that I think are worthy of praise and he will do things that are not. If he does increasingly less of the latter, I will be much happier about his continued tenure.

Some people on here appear to want to support Stepford City.

Nah, Kenobi-wan, they are really like worker bees; you know, the drones. When they all start buzzing at once, behold the glory of the Hive Mind.

Whilst you're all perfectly entitled to have the opinion that Mancini isn't right for the job it's something else completely trying to paint those that don't agree as having a hive mind or being drones.
The fact is the majority of blues are happy with his reign so far - its hardly the most outlandish thing you're going to read on a forum for City fans and it certainly doesn't make you incapable of forming those decisions off your own back.
Hopefully a successful weekend will keep us all happy and we can look forward to adding to our trophy list at the end of the season.

Well, I'm generally 'happy' with his reign so far, also. I suggested him as the alternative choice to Hughes back in the day when it was heresy to question the great Welshman. He's taken a bunch of very well-conditioned headless chickens and not only instilled a no-excuses winning mentality, but also the tactical awareness necessary to bring a squad forward to the level of competition. He's also won silverware, no piddling stuff, but an FA Cup and a League title. I will always revere him as a phenomenally important person in the continuing evolution of the club, but I think he has burned his bridges with his players and too many others at the club to be able to move forward as part of a team with Soriano and Txiki, among others. I just don't see how he can possibly take us any farther.

And what do you know of these relationships?

What, in fact, does anyone know how it works within the club, without actually working there themselves?

Unless you are employed by MCFC, you know nothing, other than what you read in the papers. Which of course, are balanced and impartial.

Classic deflection.

Right up there with "how many coaching badges have you got?"

In what way?

Come on Billy, explain.

So tell me, o wise one, are you merely a 'skeptic' or rather a full-on 'epistemological nihlist' or perhaps some strange creature I haven't met before? Your level of self-puffery is quite astonishing, and I wouldn't dream of inviting you to any party of mine.

-- Fri Apr 12, 2013 5:51 am --

Yes, Billy, but this bloke stretched his missive out to three sentences, so he at least deserves credit for actually trying before failing...

Which is all fair enough - it doesn't address why those of us who want him to stay are all drones and sufferers of hive minds though.
The positives that you allude to in your post are likely to be enough for some fans to believe that their stance on him is right, or credible at least.

It's fact BH, neither you or I are party to the machinations of the day to day working of the club or the relationships between the employees. So my questioning of your statement is valid.

Self puffery? You're the one alluding to knowing about how the club works.

I'd love to see Dismal Deidre or Billy's Bum Chum try and post something similar in support of their version of events. Sadly, the stats don't lie and there is no chance they would ever put their head above the parapet of the one and only thread they ever post on. Not trying to steal CIL's glory, but im putting something together for the blog in SUPPORT of Mancini.

I'm currently deciding whether to go with the beer fuelled version, or the sober one.

DD and BS don't look good in either version.
