Mancini ; I stay at City

Actually what you are saying doesn't really come close to telling the whole story.

Juventus were relegated, but as already stated, Inter won 17 games in a row and finished the season on 97 points. I'd imagine 97 points would have won them the league in any season.

Fiorentina were deducted 15 points but even without that deduction they would have still finished 24 points behind Inter. Milan were deducted 8 points but again, even without that deduction, they would have finished 28 points behind Inter. Their closest rivals were Roma and they finsihed 22 points behind Inter, without any deductions.

The thing with Ibrahimovic also doesn't really tell the full story. First of all, he wasn't that prolific when he played for Juventus. He wasn't even played as an out and out striker in a number of games. His goal-scoring record was worse than 1 in 3.

His first season at Inter was 06/07 (the season described above). He only scored 15 league goals. 3 less than Rolando Bianchi, and only 5 more than Marco Materazzi. Inter scored 80 league goals. In other words, 65 goals weren't scored by him.

I've seen plenty of articles that discredit Mancini for his achievements in Italy, but they all have one thing in common. They're ill-researched and the match fixing scandal is always brought up to downplay his achievement. Your post is no different. What Mancini is doing here pretty much mirrors what he was doing at Inter. I don't see how anybody can have any complaints about that.
With the caveat that this is taken at face value for accuracy; excellent post and I'm not Mancini's No.1 fan.

No. That's me ;-)

Good, stability now after all the upheavals of takeovers, let us build now.
In Mancini we have someone completely loyal and focused and very committed.
I think he's getting the City bug big time now, the way he has celebrated, in the last couple of games, the way the fans sing his name, I bet he's never experienced the City style before and it has changed him, he knows how big this club is now and how passionate the fans are, he wants to do it for the fans.

its all in the manager and his game plan. if we had fergie we'd piss the league and i mean really piss it with this set of players.
bob has a lot to learn.

And the onus is on impatient supporters to allow Mancini time to forge a team who will compete for honours. All indications show he will deliver even despite below par performances or reports of player unrest.

If we had fergie in a years time when the team had time to get used to a new regime then I would agree with you, however, he didnt exactly set the world alight in his first few years despite having a huge war chest (relatively speaking).

Who is to say that Mancini wont piss the league? More importantly, havent you noticed the commitment and passion the players have shown of late? As far as I can see Mancinis overall game plan is coming together nicely. I have no doubt he has promised these players success and now they have a sniff of it they are beginning to believe in him...much like more and more people on here thankfully.

Its been a rollercoaster ride so far....I reckon we all have a lot to learn.

It's probably my natural cynicism when it comes to supporting this Club - but I'm still not 100% convinced by Mancini. The Team on its own are worthy of Top 4 in a poor Premiership season and the FA Cup run glossed over poor Carling Cup & Europa campaigns. The spine of the side weren't brought in by him with Silva and Yaya both being on our radar long before he took over. However, we BADLY need stability in the Management position and he does seem to handle the job fairly well. Providing the team continues to progress and he meets his targets then things can stay as they are.

How very magnanimous of you. And there was me thinking that you had made your mind up about Mancini pretty much the day he arrived and that there were no circumstances under which you would give the guy a break.

I don't need to give the guy a break. He gets paid over 4 million euros a year to manage MCFC. He has had a blank cheque book and inherited some of his best players. There are minimum expectations placed upon him not by me, but by the owners of the club...and up until a few weeks ago he was struggling to meet them.

The difference being that the club, from what we gather, have put pretty reasonable expectations on him, top 4. He looks right on course to meet those expectations and we could well end our trophy drought as well which would be excellent progress imo. You seem to want rid of him for not challenging for the title. I don't think it can be overstated the progress we have made. To get to a major final in itself is excellent progress seeing as we haven't managed it for 30 years. To win the cup would be a huge hurdle overcome for the club. And as plenty of other clubs have found out over the years, the leap from 5th to 4th in the prem is pretty big. I'm not suggesting Mancini is perfect and clearly if we capitulate and miss out on 4th then he'll be very lucky to keep his job, but to ignore the significant progress that he is on course to achieve seems slightly perverse.

"learn"?!?!?

I think having the biggest transfer budget in the world merits more than a trainee, personally.

Why do you describe the premiership season as poor?

We were ravaged with injuries and so played the reserves in the lowest priority competition!

Why do you feel it's worth noting the the "spine" of the side weren't bought by Mancini? Ancelotti didn't by most of the Chelsea team who won the double.

And you try to downplay his influence in bringing Silva and Yaya with no justification.

You just don't like him. Despite the best season for 30 years.

Silly comment. He is no trainee. He would however have to be superhuman to possess all the knowledge that Feguson has aquired over more than 20 years in 18 months. As to the transfer budget well I think you´ll find Madrid have spent more than us in the last 2 years. And look where that has got them. Even with your favourite manager at the helm. Speaking of which I reiterate a point I made yesterday that while Jose is a better manager than Mancini he will like Ferguson be remembered not for the trophies but the lack of class he displays when things go against him.

You no doubt couldn´t care less about that. But why is Paisley´s Liverpool team still remembered fondly. The man had a bit of graciousness and humility about him.

And if you really think Mancini should go why not Guardiola? Better football and frankly a better advert for our club than the quickly unravelling Special One.
