its strange in this 1 thread you have an interview with Mancini saying well i brought a lot of those players in, some posters saying its a fact he built this team, posters slagging of Hughes, but Hughes bought Komany, Zaba, Barry, De Jong, Tevez, Lescott, half the title winning side,
its a funny old game

Great stepping stone was bob, forever grateful for the trophies and celebrations that kompanied it (: however, serious delusion from bob there, the dressing room was shot, all key players excluding yaya wanted out and the football under Pellegrini is on another level, comes across a little bitter actually!!!

This has never been anything other than complete hearsay, strange how some people think it's an accepted fact. It isn't

Seeing as though it comes from a player who was in that dressing room I'd take his word of rumour, don't be mistaken, yaya was a massive Mancini 'inner'!!!!

I wonder how strong the desire of "all the key players" was to jump ship. Interesting that Vinnie agreed a new 6 year contract at the club on July 25 2012, David Silva signed a 5 year extension to his contract on the 17 September 2012 and Sergio signed an extension on his contract , which was "in the pipeline" before Mancini was dismissed, on May 25 2012. The players themselves have denied that Mancini ever "lost" the dressing room. The fact remains that whatever claims and counter claims are made, that team had had the "spirit", "guts", "fight" to beat Ferguson's team to the title from 8 points down with 6 to play. That is Ferguson's team. Ferguson, the manager many on here saw as some evil, but infallible, genius whose "winning mentality" always came through so that he never "blew it".

I guess we just ignore last season or blame it all on Sheikh Mansour not giving Bobby enough money to buy Van Persie, De Rossi, Hazard, and a new yacht from the commissions.

The first trophy in three and a half decades.

Champions League football.

Kun, Merlin, Yaya, Nasri.

That sodding banner coming down at the swamp.

That glorious autumn of 2011.

The 6-1 that we still sing songs about. Emerging from their shadow and eclipsing them.

Aguerooooooooo and our first title since the 60s.

We have moved on but these things we have enjoyed in the last 3-4 years have been special and will always remain so.
I don't care what he says now, or what people say about him, whether he is arrogant or bitter or both. They are the milestones of a journey out of darkness and into sunlight, and he was a key part of it.

Agree with all of that mate.

He deserves credit for those achievements

Me too
Unfortunately some folk still can't except the success he brought us
Which is a shame really.

Funny tweet from someone at the MEN:

After Mancini's comments unconfirmed reports Mark Hughes has been spotted on the phone to Sky Sports News yelling: "I SIGNED KOMPANY!" #mcfc

Unfortunately it was true that he lost the dressing room, most of it anyway including key players like Kompany and Silva, and so had to go. I will never forget what I'm dubbing 'the Poznan years' (10/11 and 11/12) though and no matter how much success comes our way in the future I suspect nothing will ever top the elation of the QPR match. He can definitely hold his head high. His achievements are living on and hopefully players like Negredo, Navas, and Fernandinho will help further his achievements.

A great way to explain that time. Was a rollercoaster and after 27 years of watching City was a great time. As someone once said "the History is yours but the future is ours". I for one will always look back at the 'Poznan Years' with a smile and some great memories.

No we don't Billy, or at least the rest of us don't. Last season was such a disaster because we came second in the league and second in the FA cup. To many that might actually be evidence of what Mancini did for this club. The season before last we won the PL. Before that we won the cup. My son is now 35 and they're the first trophies City have won since before he was born. The difference between my son, me and many others on this forum on the one hand and you on the other is that those achievements count for something whereas for you they seem to count for nothing. And we don't see why wanting Mourinho for manager, as you did, means we should belittle Mancini. And we don't see why enjoying this season, after a poor start, should mean we have to run down Mancini and his very real achievements. And your "guesswork" appears to be of the usual fabricated variety: perhaps you also wish to ignore the cash he "gave" Mark Hughes or the cash "given" to Manuel Pellegrini.

Couldn't have put it better myself. Bravo sir.

The inexorable rise continues.

Mancini was exactly what we needed at the time, someone who would get stuck in and fight all comers no matter what reputation they had, he gave us the grit and determination as a bedrock in his first season, and then added to that in his second with more attractive football.

Unfortunately, the very thing that we needed when he arrived, is the very thing that got him the hoof. There are only so many fights you can pick before you pick the wrong one, and you don't pick a fight with the owner and win. I wish him all the best and thank him for what he did for us, but it was best for all involved that he move on.
