I never thought of him as an interesting person from a football perspective, we never spoke the same language.

"And I'm not talking about Italian, Spanish or English. His past at Barcelona? I think he was coming from an airline. I've been in football since I was 13 and I had never heard anything about Soriano. He arrived in England with his manager role and I saw that he loves to speak, to get media exposure.

Too many people wanting class and respect these days. It was the right decision to sack him and move forward but I think that's a great quote. More people in football should have a "bollocks to you" attitude.

Fair enough but that quote there is exactly why Mancini was sacked, ironically given in the same interview that he's questioning why he was sacked.

In professional football you won't get to see a lot of managers stating they were rightly sacked. Nor a lot of players stating they deserve to be warming the bench.

I will remember Mancini forever as he gave me the best day of my life.

I'm a big fan of Pellegrini ever since his time with Villareal and I think he's the best to try and get us to the next level.

I just hope that in a few years time I can say it has been the right descision.

Well yeah. But isn't that part of the reason we buzzed off Roberto anyway? Couldn't imagine him coming out with "my relationship with the players and my tactics in certain games was poor and it's completely my fault."

I genuinly hope you're right - but so far I'm not overly impressed by them (not just re Mancini). You have clearly nailed your colours to the mast about them - but why???? Yes "Barcelona" but surely you can see the mitigating fortunate factors there at the time - It doesn't mean it will translate here. Like I said - I live in hope - you seem to live in certainty. Don't get me wrong I admire your forthright optimism.

There's many reasons why it didn't work out for Roberto but his attitude and ignorance towards everyone but his own tiny clique of fellow Italians was the root.

I've not got blind faith in Txiki. I rate Pellegrini way higher than Mancini, and when I see the business we are doing I don't see how you can be anything but optimistic. This isn't a transitional season and I don't expect us to do anything other than improve on last season's points tally, and comfortably improve on our abortive recent CL campaigns.

You also rated Hughes higher than Mancini so your opinion is invalid.

Poor comments from Mancini. The performances were diabolical last season, bar about 3-4 games where the team actually played somewhere close to the standard that they are actually capable of

Doesn't the most successul manager in many of our lifetimes realise that the new fashionable cult of Sariano and Txiki can do no wrong.

You really haven't taken it well at all. Still, when you see what our squad is actually capable of when they're happy I'm sure the City fan in you will see the right decision was made. Maybe you'll even come to thank Ferran and Txiki ... who knows. :)

I agree withn you GM, I remain unconvinced by Sariano and Txiki, in fact there are are a few things about the way the club is being run at the moment that annoy me. The sight of Pellegrini being all friendly to some I.T losers on his first day at work really bothered me for some reason, I don't want a nice old man in a cardigan, I want a mercurial but volatile (and strangely sexy) football god, who tells the dull as ditchwater middle managers that our club now seems to be full of to '"stop telling me how the bloody tele in the changing room works, and get me a brew and Isco immediately"! Getting rid of Mancini will come back to bite us on the arse, mark my words.

Mancini was the right man at the right time. We needed someone to take over from Hughes who could sort out the defence and was a big enough name to attract "big" players.

No one will forget him winning out first trophy for 35 yrs or the PL but even as we were winning it the cracks were showing.

Some posters let those 2 trophies blind them to the realities of last season where the team massively underperformed and even the most ardent Mancini inner ( I was one up to a point but I am aslo a realist) could see there was something seriously wrong and it all culminated in the cup final.

I don't think there is a dignified way to sack a football manager and it wasn't handled well but in the end it was the right decision.

Mancini does himself no good by giving interviews such as this, it would be better to maintain a dignified silence.

The way he was sacked was very poorly handled and did deserve more respect for his achievements at our club,if he wants to have a whinge he is entitled to do it.best of luck to him, only this
