IMHO there is no alternative at the moment (which is why I think discussion of a new manager is irrational), nor would I want one. I'm curious to see how it goes. And fairly positive it won't go badly.

We will see mate. As I've just posted in reply LoveCity, we are getting another very very tough group next season if we're in Pot 3. If Mancini doesn't get us out of that, and he so far has shown no sign that he's capable of doing that, then I think he'll be toast.

There are strong cases in both keeping Mancini and sacking him at the end of the Season. With the new directors in place, Mancini's powers have been reduced to Coaching the First Team and getting the best out of them and having some input but not totally in control of City's Transfer Policy. Whether Mancini's is totally comfortable with that is open to debate.

Yeah but we still lost overall.Lets not forget last year when we couldnt even finish runners up to those giants of Italian giants Napoli in the champions league group. But losing to Sporting Lisbon was the total pi** take on aggregate

Mods, baildon is a bitter rag bastard and its getting embarrassing now and making me cringe.
I'm not immune to sniffing these types out, but even by my standards you take this to extremes.

You need to read his posts. He is being silly with it.

European success may not be a priority for some fans... indeed, a lot of City fans I travel to the game with seem to find Champions League almost a chore (why, I don't know. Maybe because we're so rubbish in it). But for the club itself, Financial Fair Play, our brand name, and us becoming a self-sustaining juggernaut European consistency/relative success (quarters/semis/final) is of the upmost importance. I'm a big Mancini fan but it's not dramatic to call him a failure in the Champions League so far. The best he's done in 7 attempts being the quarter finals but the most alarming thing is he's regressed rather than improved in Europe. Chronologically his CL record is: Group stage, quarter final, quarter final, last 16, last 16, group stage, group stage. Take out his first failure with Lazio (understandable) and it's a downward slope I'm afraid.
This is a top post.

However it will be ignored either because some fans believe our European ineptitude should be swept under the carpet or they are too busy living off the title last season they fail to realise the importance of progressing in the CL so we have any chance of meeting FFP.
How long have you been a Manchester City fan?

It was my ambition to one day sing Abide with me at Wembley and I gave up even dreaming about winning the League as a boy. Now we have done it back to back, and you want to discuss changing the manager because we're unlikely to retain the title back to back?!

If only Man Utd fans had been so fickle

Sheer madness and no mistake. They can't be serious. Sometimes I wounder how many posters on these threads are actually just trolling.

That's fair enough and a valid opinion, personally if we compete well and still don't qualify, that would have a bearing on the decision. We won't know until the time, we'll surely pick it up between us then because imho, Mancini will still be taking us into Europe to find out.

Should be fun! Like I said, I'm curious to see what happens when we stick instead of twist.

My whole post talks about the importance of CL for our financial stability and you say I want the manager sacked because we can't win the title. Christ

For what it's worth I've had a season ticket since the 94/95 season.

The vast majority

This CL discussion is bloody well silly. We will strengthen in the summer and get through any group they care to chuck at us. We very nearly made it out of the group in our very first season in the CL and yet this is held up as abject failure In reality, it was just dumb luck and inexperience. Only one team had ever failed to qualify on ten points. This season's group stage performances were abject right enough, but honestly I think we'll make it into the knockouts come what may next season.
