Mancini out? (merged)

The tinkering at the back in pre-season was clearly Mancini's idea of a plan B. Yes, we needed and still need a plan B when teams park the bus, but to do it by ripping apart the best central partnership in the premier League of Lescott-Kompany was suicidal. I put Hart's erratic form this season purely down to the fact that the defence has not been settled. If he wants width, use a winger or two. To not even give Sinclair a chance because he obviously did not want him, is just petulant and counter-productive. I feel like I did in the Cup winning season after the liverpool debacle in the week leading to the FA Cup semi-Final when I had just had enough of the baffling decisions, poor performances and attitude towards his players. Then we woke up and carried on a run which lasted until November in the title running season. Will we see history repeat itself or has it all gone too far

Let's imagine for a moment that we DO sack our most successful manager ever.

Will that make ferguson and utd worse?
Will that stop Chelsea spending to improve their squad?
Will that stop the possibility of Liverpool improving next year?
Or spurs?
Or arsenal?

If the answer to all the above Q's is "no" then lets say we end up with mourinho (please god, no)..

What if utd STILL push for the title (which they will), and god forbid, win it next year? What if (as is highly likely) we get another "group of death" next season in the CL?

We could be sat here next year in a very similar position, having spent millions on sacking and recruiting managers to say nothing of any player purchases.

What do we do then. Sack the new manager?

Really?

This whole debate is an embarrassment. I don't believe there are another set of fans anywhere in the world as obtuse and frankly ungrateful as some on this forum.

If what happened to the scum last year on the last day had happened to us our fans would've burnt the ground down. Their fans rallied round their manager and team and are likely to be rewarded with another title.

Hate to say this but many on here could learn a thing or two about suppiort from our hated neighbours. It's a similar story with the way our fans treated ballotelli in contrast to the way the filth treated cantona.

Embarrassing.
sorry but this is absute rubbish we've been embarrassed in the champs league and not played well all season and to top it off mancini slating players off in public something fergie would never do! If united went out of champs league like the way we did they would be calling for fergie to retire. With that said comparing mancini to fergie is ludicrous!

Ive backed him all the way, but that performance at weekend smelt of a man that had lost the respect / belief of his players, they were certainly not playing for him.

The following when you look at them really don't look good

1. Win the league and then decide you are going to play 3-5-2, and ruin a pre-season becuase of his own stubbornness as he wouldn't let it go, even though it was clear it was never going to work. the team nneed a little bit of tweaking, and pace adding to it, nothing more...so a complete change of tactics is suicidal really

2. loss of NDJ as a player and personality, the players clearly loved him and his attitude. you only have to look at pics at ac milan to see how players are with him

3. The balotelli situation really became a joke, particularly after his performance in the euros

4. Javi Garcia, Rodwell, Kolarov, Maicon, Nasri, sinclair....needs not further comment really

5. Loosing at home to villa in the cup, another storming gaz baz performance...

6. Going out of the champs league early doors

7. The lescott situation hasn't be handled well at all

8. publicly criticising players, is never going to go down well

9. Missing out on 2 major summer targets RVP and Hazard

11. The last few months havn't really looked right, apart from arsenal away, i think we have been average at best. the body language and attitude (apart from zabba and serio at times) has been shocking. I have followed city for 35 years, and seen some right shite play for us, but i can accept it when they put the effort it.

12. The southampton performace was absolutely horific, i don't think its possible to over exaggerate it...it was fucking shocking

the only positive for me, if you can call it that, is the fact that surely they cannot perform like that again.

We cannot afford to finish lower than second imo, as we need the brand to keep growing.

I personally thik he will be gone before the season is out...

Excellent post . I hope he can galvanise and regroup the team and at least get them to perform until the end of the season.

My only concern is if he has lost interest and has started flirting thus taking his eye off the ball. Thats not a great situation to be in

So why has it been OK for several posters to label him a rag, just for having an opinion?

i think being called a rag is a little less abusive than telling someone to go fuck themselves

Just like in any job if you are not performing to the satisfaction of the boss then how well you did the previous 2 years is irrelevant. When he arrived first he had us playing some really boring football. We progressed to the point where we were an absolute joy to watch and now we are back to the level of performance that was a feature of the beginning of his reign. I'm struggling to remember one performance this season that came close to matching the first half of last year. Yesterday was a new low not witnessed since the forest defeat in the cup. Mancinis man management consists of publicly slating players and screaming "fuck you" from the sidelines. The end approaches and I for one won't mourn him.

1. Yes, this is why I wanted him gone January 2012. I thought it was up for him then...back to form. Mancini is still benefitting from the application of the Myth of The Pink Wheel Trimmer to him: good for three months plus a cracking volley against Reading and the granny-deader morphs into the greatest player evah, innit.

2. That game is burned into my mind, even worse than the 8-1. At least two players that I will not name INTENTIONALLY threw that game.

3. See...I cannot get over this. Must be saying something else, surely.

Seconded. He's lost the plot and doesnt look like he knows what to do.

People bang on about him not getting the players he wanted but we didnt need a whole lot of improving, just some more pace in the team( eg. wingers) and then a couple of squad players. Yet he sanctioned the sale of one of our most consistent players in De Jong for peanuts and replaced him with a slow and average garcia who has no passion at all. With the money he spent on Rodwell and Garcia that would have paid for Van Persie and that would have allowed us to sell 1 of Dzeko, Tevez or Balo to raise funds for others.

The club needs a massive overhaul in the summer, manager included. The sale of Balo was the start of the club taking back the reigns from Mancini who they clearly don't trust anymore. Dzeko, Nasri, Kolarov, Tevez and Lescott will be a few of the names definitely out of the door come July.

Not very happy with Mancini and the team this weekend.Fed up with all his rubbish excuses didnt have enough time to prepare didnt buy anybody in January.Mancini you have a great squad get on with it and stop winging.

Mancini is bonkers and I don't particularly like him or his style BUT he must be given 5 years - anything else is just going in circles for the club -

by changing the manager every couple of years it gives players way too much power - they get used to it and then lose respect too easily - its also a way for them to pass the buck.

I was at the Southampton game with the home support quite close to the dugout and watched him closely - he looked desperate and his mannerisms were that of a man who's losing control or not got it at all. The support for him/and the team was amazing from the City fans, even at 3-1 down - I wonder whether it gave him any comfort!?

He clearly needs to chill and go back to bascis but with the spectre of a another manager taking over how can he. By saying what he has recently he's wrting his obituary - hence my first comment being bonkers.

I'm sure he will learn a lot by reflecting over the summer and regroup and from the lessons of this season build a stronger and more focusesd team - cause that is not what we got at the moment.

bottom line - he's gotta be given more time and I believe he could become a really great manager - that takes time
