Mancini: The Players haven't welcomed me...

Gentlemen this is just paper talk yet again.

Why would Mancini tell the italian press....please remember that the press want us to fail and will spread allsorts of rumours to make sure we all feel anxious.

We have to stand together now and back the team, and they are professional footballers who are well paid and will adapt.

So lets stop over reacting to the media hype.

Well said,NEVER BELIEVE whats in the papers. But it does seem we have alot of very gullable supporters.

After watching Sylvinho and Robinho on the OS, looks to me Robinho is pretty happy with the situ atm.
Cant see everyone welcoming Mancini straight away but as he said it will take a few week to settle in.
Either way any player who dont want to play for the club can exit, or warm the bench.

And what does it say for the credibility of the likes off SSN, when they start suggesting that Robbie is one of the players alleged to be grieving the departure of Hughes.

Every club has its sprinkling of players who signed up because of the manager - it happens all the time.

Yes, some will have a hissy fit if the manager is sacked, but managers also occasionally resign and accept positions elsewhere leaving the players behind.

Admittedly most managers are sacked but it doesn't stop the managerial merry-go-round.

In spite of his previous success Mancini has been out of work over 18 months (including a 12 month career break) and that can hardly sit well with most players these days.
I mean, would a manager sign a player who had been out of the game for the same period ? Mmmm...maybe.

If we get 2 or 3 successive wins, I reckon players will buy-in to him and soon forget about Hughes. WINS are the key. They'll build confidence.

It's gonna get mighty crowded at the top of the table with Mancini, Rafa, Twitcher amd O'Neill all declaring their ambitions, thus putting extra pressure on Chelsea and ManU.

Well if the players aren't behind him, we'll just show them in the crowd that we are right with him by the reception he receives when he goes onto the pitch Vs Stoke.

we have brought this upon ourselves

While I will support Mancini 100% and its time to move on, sacking MH at this point in the season was a huge mistake.

I dont blame the players at all........the team was progressing and despite all those draws you could tell moral was good. They all wanted to work for MH. The team in general have done ok this season and the sacking and the fans that have helped this along the way could well have set the club back a number of steps in its progression....at teh very least they have given the media plenty of ammo with which to throw all this negative press at us.

Mancini will have to workl wonders to get the team back on track.....lets hope he is upto the job cause if he isnt i can see some of our more impatient supporters starting to critiicise quite quickly if things dont pick up.

Whatever happens in the next 2 months we need to be 100% behind all the team (every single player regardless of who it is) and the manager and the club in general.....regardless of results!!!!
I endorse these sentiments entirely and also feel sick to the core we have done ourselves untold damage in more ways than just the performance of the team. Let's hope for all our sakes you, I and many others on here are wrong!

Disagree entirely.

Like many i dont think we have done too much wrong but the molehills have been deemed mountains by the media and those that believe the media, see a completely normal football situation, i.e a manager being sacked because the owners no longer see as the man they want to take the club forward, as a something horrendous and give it 'the end of the world is nigh' type comments.

What is this 'untold damage' you speak of mate?

2 weeks time and Hughes will be elsewhere, someone else will have been fired and the merry footballing bandwagon and the over-reacting press stories will carry on as they always have.

And Roberto Mancini will be cementing himself further into our hearts.

Spot on, you'd think no club had ever sacked a manager in this way the way the media have been banging on. It's been happening for as long as I've been watching football. Even City have previous for getting a manager lined up before sacking the current one, Keegan was approached before Royle was booted. It may be unpleasant and it probably should have been handled better but that's life and the same fans moaning about it would also have been moaning if we hadn't had a replacement lined up.
