Didsbury Dave said:It just seems such a blindingly simple and obvious choice to make. Soriano and txiki may have their philosophies and their power bases but ultimately they also have their targets on the field and financially.BillyShears said:bluemcr said:Real Madrid coach, José Mourinho, remained enigmatic when asked about his future by the Portuguese press and said it would not be "a drama" if he did not win another Champions League this season. "To win two Champions is difficult enough, there are a lot of great coaches who haven't won any", he said.
"Everyone knows that I have an adventurous streak in me, but for my family it is not easy. Let’s see what happens, after England, Portugal, Italy and Spain it's difficult to find a new destination. I may have to repeat one. Things could be about to happen that nobody could dream of," he continued.
He also expressed his desire to coach his national side one day. "I would love to win something with Portugal one day, but it won't be easy because few Portuguese players are in the league there," he said
Impossible that we're not talking to his people. May not come to anything but it would be remiss of the powers that be to not be looking at the best and most successful manager of the last decade.
Obvious, true - but there just doesn't seem to be any inclination from the Club to make that choice. All the chatter seems to point towards him returning to Chelsea, with no effort from our side to convince him otherwise.
It seems, in a complete about turn from every other time this has been a possibility, that he was more keen on joining City than we were on him - rather than the other way round, as with every other time.
We seem quite happy to give Chelsea a free run at him, which suggests we have other plans in mind for next season - be those with or without Mancini.
