In the future it might not happen again?

It shows that mancini cares about the club above all others football?

Did you want Vinny risked....I know I didnt and what if his calf injury had occured again he would have probably missed the majority of the rest of the season.....like mancini said he didnt play him vs everton so not to risk him for the newcastle game and the semi final of the fa cup....yet he is played for begium a week or so later?

Ferguson has been doing this for years (publicly)...even to the extent of getting players to retire from international football to concentrate on club football and he is applauded for it by utd fans cause he wants the best for the club.

Mancini is standing up for MCFC....something he should be applauded for.....fuck the media!
So why not do it behind closed doors rather than piss your captain off by having it all over the media?

Do you know its pissed vinny off?

He was asked a question...if he had refused to answer they would have assumed....if he had lied they would have made it up/suggested it anyway.

It needs to be said because he is right to do so
So you think vinny will be happy with this? Laughable. He's the club captain.

I'm still waiting for one single reason why this was better in the media than behind closed doors.

I'll give you three reasons why it would be better behind closed doors:

1) it embarrasses the captain
2) it pisses off the other players
3) it has the club in the headlines for the wrong reasons.

Just one reason why this was done in the medianplease. Anyone...

Power-trip.

I've only seen one article on the Kompany/Belgium thing this morning, to which Mancini looked more to be criticising the Belgian manager than Kompany himself? Has he said something directly toward Kompany?

Again saying peoples opinions are laughable isnt a way to have a constructive conversation, but ill ignore it and answer you.

I dont know IF vinny will be pissed off...i was asking you if you know...I havent a clue how he will feel...he may take it as his manager trying to protect him and take it as constructive criticism...he may be completely pissed off..I dont know

Ive given you two reasons why

1 He is standing up for the club...which he should be doing and I applaud him for

2. He was asked a question so he answered it....for the reasons ive already given you in particualr his because his comments/opinions are right (imho)...

Mancini sticking up for the club isnt bad press as far as im concerned....

Segio went abroad and then came straight back...Mancini assumed that would happen with Vinny as neither player had played ...he was suprised by the fact that VK played

Im not sure why it would piss off the other players???

DD - you are just looking to attack RM on every single thing..he is sticking up for MCFC which is the right thing to do....there are continuous comments on this board over the years saying we dont do this as a club yet the likes of fergie get away with it all the time and are lauded by the utd fans for it.......

I cannt believe that some people are criciticising mancini for what he said about Kompany...ferguson is applauded by utd fans for putting the club first yet mancini does it he is criticised by media and our own supporters when he is clearly putting the club first.

Im a mancini innner but i agree with some of the criticisms the outers have; his man management could be better in terms of being more flexible; sometimes players need a kick up the arse sometimes they need an arm round the shoulder and i dont think that mancini is probably very good at the latter.

We certainly havent hit the heights of last season in terms of playing style/flair etc but Mancini was criticised last season for not having a plan B....this season he does but it isnt effective a lot of the time...(though sometimes it has been)

The players brought in: some have been good (Nastasic) some not so good (Garcia, sinclair, Maicon)...I believe Rodwell will be a good purchase if he cah shake these injuries (he is young and we can give him plenty of time to do this so worth the risk imho)

The squad does need a bit of an overhaul (Midfield in particular)......milner and barry are both players who have got us to where we want to go but both have shown that at the highest level (international) that they arent good enough (Im a massive fan of barry the way he plays for us btw and milner works harder than any player but as an attacking option he is very limited even in his more preffered central role). Garica as I mentioned isnt good enough in my opinion....otHer players have taken us to the prem title as well but at the highest level are good enough....kolorov being another eg of this.....BUT this is all about progression and developing the squad in stages which is what needed to happen....we had to pay over the odds for those players (not mancinis fault or the clubs ....but the fault of greedy selling clubs like everton!)

Mancini has however vastly improved some players already here..the likes of richards, zabba, barry, hart kompany have all improved and lets not forget tevez who was hounded on this forum by many for being "greedy" etc...mancini despite his falling outs with tevez has got him playing a completely different role in a deeper lying position where i believe he is playing well (not scorring as many but overall performances have been very good)

To get to the top...ie doing well in the champs league, we will need further additions....that is not mancinis fault as when he bought players like kolorov etc we were never dining at the very top table,,,we were still new.....maybe we still cannt at present and we need a few more successes to get these players in and at domestic level mancini has already shown that he can do this. There isnt a manager around who hasnt bought the odd flop or two in their career..

Id give mancini next season at least....for me its about him and the team/club being given the chance to rise to the challenge set by utd and possibly the return of Jose to chelski, plus the ever threat of the likes of spurs, arsenal and everton and a resurrgent liverpool.

I want to see if we can get back to the standard of last season which is the best football ive ever seen us play in 38 yrs of supporting the club. I want to see kompany and mancini stick it to the rag media again.

The best team doesnt always win

Utd have been better than us this season and in particular they are consistent...but Id rather watch our brand of football when we hit the heights that we are capable of (and remember it was mancini that got us to those heights)...the chelsea win was the most recent example of this....than watch the style of football played at utd/spurs

Agree with most of this, it is refreshing to read a balanced and considered analysis of our progress rather than the extreme outlandish statements that get bandied about.

I think you have summed the situation up well. This is not a time for panic stations or knee jerk responses, it needs a considered evaluation of where certain parts didnt go right when compared to last season and then to make the necessary adjustments.

Mancini has earned the right to carry on and make those adjustments and additions to the squad.
I've just clicked on your name and looked at all the topics you've started.

Pure comedy. Your berating of the Hughes doubters, continual praising of man united and obsessive and repeated hatred of city fans was a bit of an eye opener.

I've a feeling there's something you're not telling us ;-)

If he was really sticking up for this club, why didn't he just stop after criticizing the Belgium coach Marc Wilmots?

cause he was direclt asked about VK's feeligns about it all and whether they had discussed it.

VK said he wanted to go as he had been called up...RM didnt want him to but then said it was ok to go to be assessed..RM said he was suprised that he stayed and played and probably worried.

RM is right.....the club pays the players wages and it is to the club the players have the responsibility.

I didnt want VK playing.

I was suprised he risked himself

Sergio wanted to play but was told not to even though he was probably just as fit as VK was......two different responces from 2 different national coaches.....which one is preferable to MCFC...?

I reckon if RM didn't say anything about VK playing 90 minutes he would be getting criticised for it on bluemoon, possibly right in this thread. Possibly by some of the same people criticising him for mentioning it.
