I reckon if RM didn't say anything about VK playing 90 minutes he would be getting criticised for it on bluemoon, possibly right in this thread. Possibly by some of the same people criticising him for mentioning it.

Exactly right. Some people are intent on spinning every single word anybody says to fit their own agenda, anybody would think they had ambitions to be tabloid journalists

Was just thinking the very same when you posted this. Had it been behind closed doors we would have heard nothing and Dismal would be all over it saying why doesn´t Mancini say something? Vinnie should realise who pays him blah blah blah

Agree with most of this, it is refreshing to read a balanced and considered analysis of our progress rather than the extreme outlandish statements that get bandied about.

I think you have summed the situation up well. This is not a time for panic stations or knee jerk responses, it needs a considered evaluation of where certain parts didnt go right when compared to last season and then to make the necessary adjustments.

Mancini has earned the right to carry on and make those adjustments and additions to the squad.
I've just clicked on your name and looked at all the topics you've started.

Pure comedy. Your berating of the Hughes doubters, continual praising of man united and obsessive and repeated hatred of city fans was a bit of an eye opener.

I've a feeling there's something you're not telling us ;-)

DD is that aimed at me cause if it is you are out of order!
Not you mate. . Bluemooner. For some
Reason my phone doesn't always quote properly. I know you're a blue.

Pros and Cons of Mancini. Why he should stay and why he shouldn't?

Pros:

Defense. Since his appointment players who were good or worse have become much better. Kompany, Zabaleta, Richards (Crap under Hughes), Clichy (Arsenal fans said he was rubbish) etc. When I look at the positions these players play in, it tells me that Mancini knows how to build a defense. The statistics back this up 100%.

Cons:

Attack. We struggle to score goals under Mancini. People will point to last season when we won the league but a big percentage of the goals we scored were in the first 3.5 months of the season. Take away those 3.5 months from the 3 years and a bit he's been here and we are hardly a goal machine. This comes down to a rigid down the middle style of play which can be easier to play against when compared to a style which involves pace and width. A lack of goal scoring midfielders and a lack of players getting into the box during our attacks is also to blame.

Pros:

Success. Under Mancini we have won the Premier League, FA Cup & Community Shield. Qualified for the Champions League twice, got through to a League Cup Semi Final & two FA Cup Semi Finals. This success has brought some fantastic moments, not just for Manchester City but for English & world football. Aguero's goal against QPR is one of the games all time great moments.

Cons:

Failure. We have failed to got out of our Champions League group on both occassions. This season we even failied to win a game. To be honest, apart from when we played Porto, we've even looked average at best when we've played in the Europa League. In the league we are 15 points behind United and looked pretty much out of it by February. That is pretty shocking.

Why Mancini should stay?

Under Mancini domestic success is already here. Even a 'bad' season has seen us reach an FA Cup Semi Final.

Mancini knows what is wrong. He knew we lacked a clinical player like Van Persie and he knew we lacked a player like Hazard who could put that extra bit of zip into our side. I fully believe that if we got these two players then we would have won the league by a landslide. Is it Mancini's fault that we have a weaker squad than last season? Is is Mancini's fault that United have a better squad than last season? Think of the success United have had, now United are on the verge of their greatest ever league season. That's hard to beat no matter how good you are.

Look at the other teams closest to us. I'd say overall we've looked better than Chelsea, Arsenal & Spurs when we've played them. Any improvment to our squad will see that continue. We're only 2 or 3 players short of what is required. They just have to be the best and they have to fix our weaknesses.

Why Mancini should go?

Mancini's man management is horrific. How many times do you hear Ferguson slate his players in public, as a team and as individuals? Mancini does this way too much, with Kompany being the lastest target. Not just in football, but in all ways of working life, this pisses people off and makes them unhappy.

The mentioned failure in Champions League and Europe as a whole. We don't look good at all in Europe. The opposition always seems to be one step ahead of us. When you're up against the very best teams in the world, you don't just need the best players but you need the best tactics as well. We look well short here.

Better manager's are also available. You'd be stupid to say no to Jose Mourinho. I don' think our club is stupid.

The only people demonising anyone is you lot, if you demonise Mancini you are demonising our owners, it works the same way, whether it is Marwood, Txiki or anyone else you deign to slag off.
So let me get this right. If Mancini plays 3-5-2 against Everton and they stuff us then the Sheikh's a ****?
On what planet did we get stuffed against Everton?
On Earth, the one I live on. ;-)

...also with Khaldoon taking a backward step ...
Backward step - surely not? Our beloved chairman is like Father Christmas, he comes down our chimney once a year at the end of season and says everyone has done very well. He even singled out Mr Marwood (the devil incarnate) for special praise last year.

Can't be arsed reading through the last few pages because no doubt they're all the same as the last 482 but i'm guessing Mancini's now being slagged off for telling Kompany he was wrong. Well for my money Mancini is bang on the button. I was very surprised this board hardly flinched at VK playing fort Belgium midweek, infact quite a few thought it ok. Well it fucking wasn't. Imagine the meltdown if he'd have injured himself again and missed the rest of the season.

It's high time City fans got behind this club and put City's interests at the front and not the likes of fucking Belgium, individual players and at worst a whole host of wannabe future City managers that most likely will never set foot inside our managers office.

Vinny has forgiven him even if the Cabal haven't

So you think vinny will be happy with this? Laughable. He's the club captain.

I'm still waiting for one single reason why this was better in the media than behind closed doors.

I'll give you three reasons why it would be better behind closed doors:

1) it embarrasses the captain
2) it pisses off the other players
3) it has the club in the headlines for the wrong reasons.

Just one reason why this was done in the medianplease. Anyone...
It was talked about behind closed doors.

Another stick, eh Dave.

And, to answer your question, he was responding to questions asked. You, and the players, should know by now that Mancini doesn't hold back so it'd probably be fully expected. However, I fail to see any harm in what he said.

Maybe people are getting a little precious, eh?
