Mancini's poor CL pedigree - Cause for concern?

1 in 12, if we've had 3 tough games it'd be 1 in 9?

Napoli home we underperformed, so it was our fault.
Bayern away 2 soft goals in reality, and we could have had a couple of penalties.
Napoli away 2 very soft goals conceded, our own fault.

so simply if we cut out the mistakes we'll be fine next year, better than being beat and not having a clue where we went wrong like so many teams experience when they've played us this season.

We know where we went wrong and we know how to improve, and it's simple little things.

Our points total from the hardest group in the competition would've taken us through in 6 of the 7 other groups. In the end it was just luck (of lack of) of the draw.

Exactly.
Nobody goes into the CL and expects to win it straight away, there are simply too many quality sides with experience around.
Ten points in that group was no mean achievement, it's not as if you were thrashed out of sight, or failed in an easy group like your neighbours.
Look how many good teams have never won it despite years of trying.

Two years ago we should have beaten Inter in the final but lost, last year we outplayed them twice and they still knocked us out. The CL is bloody hard. If I were a City fan I'd be reasonably satisfied despite the disappointment of going out, you'll be back next year. A better group draw, win the first game and who knows ?

Anyway I'll be off after today, maybe we'll meet again next season. Good luck in the league and in europe.

if thats almost as saying we need better defenders and goalkeeper then i agree

Okay, my mistake, what I meant to say is basically we have gained 1pt in 9.

Yes we gained 10 points in the hardest group, but it was only the hardest group because of us, bayern and napoli. As it worked out, Villareal became the whipping boys, even though we struggled at home to them.

No pleasure should be taken from beating bayern at home - that team they fielded was fucking gash.

I noticed even Mancini and Kompany mentioned in their post match interviews that we got 10pts and would normally qualify - not when one of the teams has failed to take ANY points of anybody.

FFS, we did well, our first time in CL in such a hard group, gets 10 points stop look at the glass half empty and look at it as half full.

I have said previously on these pages that i never expected to progress beyond the group stage. To me it is WAY more important that we qualify for next years CL.

This year has been a good experience and we can hold our heads high. We can trouser the 25-30 mil from this years efforts, goes well towards FFP, and next year we will be wiser AND better.

Onwards and upwards people.

Well BaconChops has won a massive 2 champs leagues in 20 years and everyone goes on about him being the best manager ever! He gets shown up in most seasons in the champs league
