I agree but that doesn't make Mnagala better. For £32m for a defender I expect the finished article not someone who might come good in 2 years.

Having said that we have needed a better left back for some time yet remarkably have given both Clichy and Kolorov new contracts. Both as as average as each other.

good to see you awake mate, everyone knew that Mangala wasn't the finished article and we paid 32 million knowing that. The rags just stumped 30 million on Shaw

Wheb pogba moves it will be a 50 million plus fee, but even with him you wont be getting the finished article. Remeber Hazard, he aint the finished article even at the moment and he cost 32 million 2 years ago.

With defenders we know it takes time to bloom. And they peak much later. City knew what they were getting.

We could potentially have conceded at least 2 goals more if we had Demi or Nasty in. only Mangala's pace and then composure saved us in 1v1 situations. Nasty hasnt shown he has that compousre, last season was a season of comedy for him he went down too early in those situations

Fair enough reply but why are we looking like shit at the back? We bought a defensive midfielder yet we look worse than the last 2 seasons defensively. Why are none of our defender playing well? Is it the manager or the players? Is it Fernando? Is it Yaya?

2 goals conceded in last 2 games, 2 at hull, lucky to get away with one v spurs. It simply is not good enough.

Its because we lose possession in dangerous areas (both upfield and downfield) and our shape when losing the ball isn't right. And one of our flanks gets overloaded because Silva moves infield to create that extra pass option.

part of the problem is the players, but I have today come to the realization that the manager only compounds the issue with 2 upfront.

Honestly, you'd be hard pressed to find a CB better than Kompany, a CB with Mangala's physicality and potential, and a RB with the determination of Zaba. And two of these 3 were poor today too, but the system only furthered their misery

Time the manager started earning his pay then! Personally I thought all four were poor with Clichy being the worst,

I'd say Managala was the best of the lot today, Clichy being the worst but Zaba should have done better for the 1st although Clichy's positioning was primarily responsible for the chance to be created in the first place.

Yeah, today for the first time I am more angry with the manager than the players. Sure they shouldve worked harder in the first 60 but Pellers sure didnt make it easy with his setup

Demichelis hasn't done anything worth losing his place for, Mangala isn't showing that he deserves the place in the team.

demichelis 60/40 split in games for the season...

when we are away from home against gam teams like WHUFC MDM is far better as we need to be tight in defence. Mangala doesnt read the game as good as MDM but he is better when we are attacking more in home games.

MDM was not crap when he first arrived, he was picked at by non footballing critics.

Did somebody say mangala looked like lescott on the ball at times, ha nooooooooooooo way !

Totally agree. We need to make sure Mangala plays several matches in order to improve, but that doesn't mean Demichelis will never be played. Pellegrini needs to pick the right CB alongisde Vinny depending on the game e.g. Demichelis against Utd due to his experience

Martin Demechelis is a footballer is he not Shaun? But so was Nastasic until he got no help from Kompany against Wigan in the cup final a couple of years ago

I would say Demichelis. He played full time in 3-1 win agains liverpool in 25 august. Teamsheet was this.
01 Hart
05 Zabaleta
04 Kompany
26 Demichelis
22 Clichy
08 Nasri
42 Y Touré Booked
06 Fernando
21 Silva (Jesús Navas - 65' )
35 Jovetic (Fernandinho - 80' )
10 Dzeko (Agüero - 68' )
Substitutes
03 Sagna
07 Milner
11 Kolarov
13 Caballero
15 Jesús Navas
16 Agüero
25 Fernandinho
